I have to see what my August paycheck looks like before sending a deposit. If it's terrible (and it might be) I may have to miss out. I should be good but just in case.

Nice looking tops guys! I was pleasantly surprised by OWW's email to me stating that he was going to combine shipping thus lowering everyones individual price. Very cool indeed.

Lace charges $150 to do a colored pickup. If I remember correctly from my conversation with Jared it is a flat rate that could also be applied to a batch of pickups so 1 or 10 pickups (all the same color) would cost $150. I could be completely wrong about that though.

Hmmm, I would totally go for red pickups if anybody else wants to and it is $150 for a batch. Get the price down to something reasonable.

I actually have sprayed pickups before.

I'm not fussed about it at all, but if enough people want it (doubtful) and it doesn't inconvenience Tom any why not?

Not exactly true for myself. I have 2 builds that are coming in that I need to make sure are paid for prior to going back for another guitar. I will likely be a late entry in the deposit race, but I am good for it. If I am not mistaken, you are aiming for an August 15th cutoff or when the batch is filled up correct? In either case, I am a bit locked up for a few weeks with my money.

I have some NGDs incoming rather soon...but I plan on riding this wagon fo' sho'

Anyone want to split a maple burl top wit me? I can get a 2" slice that can be cut again into two 0.5" bookmatched tops.

If I didn't already buy and ship my myrtlewood, I would be interested... Maybe I can just get a second guitar with burl...

Well, I'll probably just order it and then whoever wants it can have the other half. I definitely am getting it. I might do a camphor burl for a future build, since I'm on this burl kick now.

I just got a maple burl topped guitar, otherwise I'd definitely be in. If I don't go bubinga, I might go redwood burl though. I'm definitely going for a red top wood with a zebrawood fretboard and either an ebony or rosewood neck. The neck will definitely be ebony if it's doable. I just figured it might be difficult to find and work with for a neck.

Gilmer has west african, macassar and malagasy all sized to fit the neck specs on this run. So you should have no trouble pulling off any type of ebony look you are after.

Yeah, I know they have it, but ebony is very brittle. It might be hard to make a neck out of. Tom listed an ebony neck in the spec sheet though. So I guess it's possible.

As a neck it's fine; Ebony isn't really brittle on that thickness. When you make control plates, fretboards or neck laminates it is though but that's when you're talking about 8mm thickness max.

I can't wait to see what this is about. Maybe we are all getting a 7 string AND an 8 string.

Well, I ordered a different guitar but it will be built along side this run by Tom. You guys are picking some insane specs for your guitars.
