The joke, and perhaps the whole conceit that ISP are marketing, is that it's the same as the originals (non G String), only smaller.

And that's great. I did find the originals being rather big and clunky (only a tad bigger than a typical Boss but makes a noticeable difference when building boards), so the mini versions are awesome.

I was planning to try to A-B this with the original Decimator (non 2) but that's been playing up lately and needs to get fixed.

I have the original Decimator (circa 2003/4) and just recently bought the mini. I much prefer the original in A/B comparions on the same rig. I have to run the mini at -20 to get similar performance to the original set around what would be -35. That is when run in front of the amp. Even then, the mini cuts off clean tones when set to levels that would contain the noise in a similar way to the original.

In the effects loop, the mini also adds some high end fizz that the original doesn’t.

Probably sending the mini back for a refund in the next couple days. Perhaps I got a dud.

Finally got to spend some time on this. Did a crappy clip to see how far I can push it before it becomes too much for my liking. Excuse the playing... :ugh:

:( Sorry to hear that yours didn't work as well. No issues with mine so far. Admittedly I don't really run gates too high for the most part. When I was touring, I couldn't run the original above -40 without becoming too tight and losing all my sustain. I actually ended up switching back to the Boss NS2 because that worked more to my liking with my then rig better. Then again, I've long since completely overhauled my rig...
