First impression: Wow. The presence and resonance knobs are a game changer imo. If I knew this mod existed and worked this well when I still had my TMPro, I never would have sold it.

Seeing @Gmork do this mod to his TMPro made me want to give the TM series another shot and I'm glad I did.

I'm going to wait on saying any more until I play it more, exit the honeymoon stage, really crank it, and A/B it with my AMT R2.

One thing I can say now is I love the single tone knob over the 3 band EQ. If you're thinking of getting a TMJr I wouldn't be afraid of being unable to find a great setting because of it.

    TLDR:
It rips hard. The Presence and Resonance mod is a game changer. Love the tone knob and don't miss the 3 band EQ

Nice, very interested. Is this something where you ship your TM back to Amptweaker and have them do this mod? 3rd party? DIY?

Not 3rd party, the mod was done by Amptweaker. You can either send your pedal in for the mod or buy a new one with the mod installed. Its not listed as an option on the site, I just contacted Amptweaker via email.

    Ya gots my attention now!

I'm conflicted on the TM and variants of. I've seen some demos that make it sound fantastic, and then some that make it sound worse than the worst Metal Zone demos on the planet. Does the presence mod open up the pedal's tone?

Interesting, makes me want to try one again. I had a standard one though a blackstar ht-5 and it sounded great, but a Jr through a Laney studio and a solid state power amp sounded horrendous.

Was a budget setup I threw together, sounded fine with bias through an iPad though.

Here’s a comparison of the two through a cellphone mic.

I know people live and die by tubes but, this is an all solidstate rig that i really wouldn’t trade for any tube rigs I’ve heard.

They both sound incredible. The r2 is a bit louder in the video, but i think i prefer it's tone slightly over the TM jr.

Right? I’ve been trying to get people to understand that solidstate has gotten better. A lot better.

I’ll make another video of the R2 and TM doing some “djent” stuff when i have time.

I feel like people avoid these types of things because they think they wont be able to get a modern tone but, i want to show that you absolutely can.

Is the power amp you use out of production? Wanted to look up price and specs but don't really find anything.

Been discontinued since like the mid '90s. It's called a MosValve MV-942 and it's loud as fuck.

    Correct ^^^

It also weighs a ton but sounds great and it’s competley solid state. They can be found used for about $300

Yup. I think mine was like 30 - 40 pounds. Not much heavier than your standard tube poweramp... But 500 watts of Mosfet power.

Also, just as I expected, I preferred the R2.

Someone said the R2 sounds louder. And honestly without an A/B switching pedal it’s hard to level match them (a lot of time between switching). I’ll try to do one more video with them level matched a bit better
