As some of you know I recently picked up a 7 string and I'll admit I'm a complete noob at it and not really sure what to play

    I love:
    -heavy breakdowns
    -chugga-chugga

    but not
    - something that fills an entire song repeatedly (ex. Meshuggah - Bleed) even though I love that song :fawk:

He said he´s a complete noob and wants breakdown/chug chug stuff
To play miles of machines you need to be very good, fast accurate and patient since it took me like a month to learn that song:cool:

I'd recommend anything by Nevermore / Jeff Loomis. I think that if you can learn his technique and style then from there you can move on to anything.

    e.g.

FWIW I stayed away from anything of his that was too complicated / over the top

Don't forget to start writing on it as soon as possible - it's a good way to familiarize yourself with the "extra" string.

Also, if you're arranged any songs for 6 string, try arranging it to include the 7 string. This will get you thinking about different voicings, lead possibilities, etc.

Anything from the Deftones self titled or Saturday Night Wrist is good shit to get your hands used to the feeling a 7.

Not a seven string player (yet)

but here's some stuff you might like that's on a seven

Trivium's shogun (the entire album) and This World Can't Tear Us Apart from The Crusade
    Most stuff by Dream Theater
    Most things by Devin Townsend

Not sure if this is on a seven or not,

For The Love Of God by Steve Vai.

    Have a blast.

Edit: Forgot The illusionist and Ascension Chamber by Scar Symmetry.
