I'll skip straight to the guitar porn, but plenty to talk about after that - Specs as far as I know - Alder Body, Black gloss finish Flame maple top, finish is Black Violet Maple neck with Walnut stripes, 27" Macassar Ebony board, 12-16" radius 24 Stainless steel frets Mother of Pearl side dots Schecter locking tuners (I believe they're Schecter branded Hipsots) Hipshot bridge Tusq nut Schaller stap locks I don't know what this falls under, it's originally from the AxePalace It's listed there simply as Custom Shop. They have a blue one in stock very similar, check the scale if you think about buying it, this purple one is listed on their previously sold ones as 26.5 it's actually 27. So on to the stories - I got this guitar last September (been meaning to make a thread I know, but the sun never shows in Scotland so...) I was down in London I wasn't planning on buying any gear but I saw these 2 Mesa cabs, covered in purple suede and I was like that'd be perfect for my band! It's pretty much black for the band and purple accents. But unfortunately They weren't selling the cabs without the head. So I let it go a little bummed, but on the last day I went out to GuitarGuitar Camden (great guys if you're ever in the area). Walked past this used rack and saw this purple Schecter! It had white Dimarzios and I realise I'd actually seen it on the SSO classifieds before! It was sitting at £1250 (about $1725), bit more than I wanted to spend, but c'mon it was purple and just begging to be played. So I sat down to play it, which was a mistake. This thing rips, it's not something I would spec out, and in some ways it's the opposite of what I like. Big chunky neck, block heel dreaded 3+4 headstock. But it was perfect, when I was playing it, it sounded huge and I could shred it super easily even with the block heel which is actually not really obtrusive at all, though I do have massive hands. I tried about 3 Mayones and a JP16-7 to compare, I'm not rich so I wasn't dropping a grand on something quick. The JP felt like playing a fretboard, the neck was so skinny I hated it. The Mayones played nice, one was a John Browne Qatsi, the other was a Duvell Elite (might've been masterbuilt?), and a Regius fan fret Masterbuild. They were all super nice but they weren't 2-3K more nice. Granted if the Schecter was new you'd be looking at similar prices, but I in that situation you could have one spec'd to you and I'd probably still choose the Schecter. It just felt so good, and still does, I've gone through a couple Dimarzios and now on the Fishmans, yes I also broke the pickup ring installing the bridge one Ask any questions as I don't see many Schecter USA's floating about and I know not many people explore them, in the UK anyway. I think the next guitar I actually buy will be another Schecter USA.
