Got a sun valley shredder on Friday. Only realised once I got it home that when they drilled the trem post holes they splits the wood, badly.

Don't know how this gets passed QC tbh.

Besides the wood split I'm surprised how badly the paint is and the crap quality of wood, considering its a MIK guitar made at WMI.

Send that shit back. I thought this was going to be another “guys there’s glue on the edge of the nut am I being too picky?” posts.

Most of these I've seen in the wild have had pretty awful fit and finish.

I think that $600 price point is a little too ambitious.

That's a shame. I've been eyeing these as Charvel So-Cal alternative.

    That's one screwed up instrument
My trust in them is completely shattered
The boss aught to drill some standards into that place
Quality control at Schecter has certainly taken a dive lately
They sure set the bar low as far as quality control is concerned
Perhaps this will be a bridge of communication and change to their quality control standards
If it were me I'd spring right on the phone and tell them to screw themselves
I don't know what the correct route is as far as correcting this is concerned
I hope this doesn't chip away at you for too long
I hope these low quality control standards are only tremporary
The maker of that guitar ought to vacate his post
It doesn't seem like they're in tune with what the customers expect

Get the So-Cal. They're more expensive, but consistently made very well.

Sad to see, I recently got one of the new Sun Valleys and it’s fantastic. I’m usually impressed with Schecter even on their lowest end stuff, hopefully this is just an aberration.

You know how these are built, right?

It's not one guy making them, it's a huge production line with dozens of workers.

They're only given a matter of seconds to minutes to perform thier assigned task and there is a big push to forward things down the line regardless of small issues.

The folks to be upset with are Schecter's USA distributor who was supposed to inspect the guitar, as well as the retailer who was supposed to as many well. Though, it can be easy to miss the trem post cracking with that piece of foam there.

You know, I didn't have that level of intimate knowledge, though I assumed much of that to be the case.

Did you realize that everything I said was a pun?

I thought these were Indo made....

It is too bad that these actually replaced the nice MIK Banshee guitars. I have one of those, and those have massive quality for what they were. It is a shame they discontinued them.

But yeah, send that shit back. That thing will never stay in tune. I agree with above, this is an actual problem.... not extra glue on the nut

Must be all that tentacle porn keeping em preoccupied.

Yeah, send it back. That thing looks like it should've been sent to the junk drawer, but sent out anyways to meet quota.

The funny thing is I literally played one of these the other day in GC, and aside from the neck being a tad thicker than I like I thought it was great. This is 100% a lemon.

You know, I think you need to cave and order a full custom. It’s the only way to get past this harrowing event.

Damn, what necks are you comfy with? The one I tried felt so damn thin I was crying.

BTW OP let Mike Ciravolo know about the thing, there was another discussion about this (very same problem) in Schecter Forum facebook page, Mike itself said it was unacceptable. If more than a couple reportings are made, I believe something could be done.
