I'd been lusting after a jackson or charvel or esp star for close to 6 months, and then this popped up at a stupidly low price. I figured I'd take a chance on it since I've always wanted a star guitar, even though my experiences with low end jacksons have been consistently negative.

    Pros:
stock pickups are actually pretty decent sounding
fret ends aren't sharp at all
guitar shape is super comfortable for playing in the classical position (which is how I play 99% of the time)
    It's pointy
it has pinstripes so I can play faster (jk)
I can actually get my meathooks all the way to the 24th fret no problem

    Cons:
Satin finish is starting to gloss after 2 months
only has a master volume knob which drives me crazy
3 way switch placement takes some getting used to

Overall for the price, it's a solid guitar. I love how the shape of the guitar combined with the bevels/contours makes it comfortable for me to play for hours. The shape also makes it so the guitar is perfectly positioned for me (neck basically at a 45 degree angle from ground).

Nice man! My main recording guitar is an LTD Star, so comfortable to play sitting down.

    HNGD!

Nice score. That toggle placement drives me crazy too, I usually move it to the tone pot position

It is just like with explorers. Love em, but the toggle switch in the most uneconomical spot ever unless you don't switch the pickups at all.

That is why if I get an explorer I am getting a schecter. I was gonna get a LP, but decided the schecter is better for me price wise and value wise. NGD Will be coming soon once I sell my current guitar and find the schecter that I want.

That was one of the main reasons I fell in love with the Kelly shape.

It's funny, no matter what in my 31 years of playing, I always come back to some Jackson one way or another. I was just recently heavily contemplating selling my two USA Select Soloists, but there's just no way in hell I can do that. I love those guitars dearly and they are just phenomenal. So much so, that I've shifted gears. I've always been a bit at odds trying to balance the eight strings on my 8 string so I just said to hell with it. I'm going to go with a 6 string baritone based on a Soloist/Dinky.

    Your guitar looks killer. Congrats!

Ever see the 30”-scale “Doom” Soloists that TMZ did a while back? I had no use for one since a 25.5” low B is as low as I have ever needed, but they looked so cool I kinda wanted one anyway.

    Now that is cool!
Nothing but love for that Jackson! I’ve always really liked pointy shape guitars when others play them (thank you Marty Friedman, Randy Rhoads and Dime...), but everytime I play them, they look funny and play oddly... If I ever find a pointy beast that suits me, I’ll join your ranks, but until then, I am happy to enjoy your NGD - CONGRATS!

    Cheers

    I have not...

I need to see these. I’m looking at a 28.625” scale. I may go Warmoth/Best Guitar Parts to not spend a large amount of money on something I’m still not certain on.

Here’s one version. There were a couple different colors, pickup configurations, and bridge options. They didn’t sell real fast and ended up going for steal prices considering they were JCS Masterbuilts. I wanna say the last couple went under $2k new.

I think it sounds great personally. Much more my speed than the typical SSO fare.

Beautiful Star! I love it. You done good.

What's wrong with only having one master? Just curious.

    That neck looks crazy flat!

I have always thought the Jackson Warrior looked like a comfortable shape, but I just can't do Jackson necks.

i prefer having 1 master vol and 1 master tone, gives me a few more options tonally.
