Heyo I just woke up from work to see this beauty waiting for me in the front door! An MIJ Ibanez RG7621! It was modified by a well known luthier to take the big block EMGs, and there is no telling it's a modification, it looks soo well done as if they came stock from the factory! It's in as mint of a condition as possible, so much so that I want to ask if the previous owner is a time traveler. The case has no damage, the guitar has no damage and the case has all the manuals from the 90s, along with the stock adjustment tools still wrapped up in plastic from the factory! Needless to say I'm more than happy! The site said my pictures were too big so here's a link to imgur https://imgur.com/gallery/xvKa6
Congrats. You were asking about the pre-Prestige MIJ Ibanez guitars last week. Now that you have one, what do you think?
It's definitely nice and WAY better than my indo Ibanez for sure! And it kind of set a perspective for me that I really like thin necks on a 7 but thicker necks on a 6 which seems kinda odd to me haha!
congrats on that 7621, don't see many of them for sale, hard to come by and some of the prices can be outrageous.ENJOY
Thanks guys it's a lot of fun to play on and I nabbed it for 600 while every other one I saw was up for 900+ in deplorable condition! It's a diamond in the rough for sure!
Congrats on the new guitar, but to me it looks more like a 7421, not a 7621. The remaining pickup ears are more in the shape of the 7421, but I've not look carefully at the pics. Great guitars nevertheless...
It sure is a classic but I love it so much already, it's so comfy in my hands and is a fantastic upgrade from my MTM2 for sure! I actually took a look into it and the remaining part of the ears are just the end curve and seem to be the end curve of a 7621 but the "triangular" part has been routed out for the soapbar humbuckers.
Actually, looking better at it, I keep my opinion, but hey, don't let this down your enthusiasm... and you're only a "taking the neck of" away to know... Congrats anyway, either a 7621 or a 7421, it looks great!
The neck is at least a 76 but I gotta take a look further into it now to keep my curiosity satisfied now haha! But if it's a 74 body I still got a great guitar imo
Hey, I've got a 7421 fully modded, switches added, repainted and so on. Killer guitar. Be careful on the chosen pickups, some don't have enough cavity space to be backed down in order to sound good (DA7s were not a good experience)...
Speaking of repainting maybe I'll get this thing refinished in Ibanez's Vampire Kiss once I add another guitar to the collection
i have a 7621 and a 7421, and the 7621 makes the 421 look and feel like a toy. i still use both, but i will get a MIJ 620 rather than a 420 when i decide to go for a tremolo.
It's amazing to me how much the 7621 feels like a high quality guitar, even the weight as you described makes a difference! That video makes me even happier with the choice I made buying one. I feel like for once I have a guitar I can't see myself selling in the future
