I've been looking for a new 7 for a while—I last had a Broderick 7 which I loved other than the fact it weighed around 12 pounds. I'd had my mind set on finally getting a UV77MC, but looked and looked and just couldn't find the right one. (Seems like no one is letting go of the really good ones.) Anyway, uncharacteristically (for me), I was actually patient and just waited for something that really fit my tastes to pop up. This was technically a Xmas gift from my girlfriend, so whatever I ended up picking was something I was going to have to keep, hence wanting to make sure it was as ideal as possible—didn't want to take a chance on something I'm not really into like extended scale lengths.

This is a 2003 Soloist built my Mike Shannon, and I couldn't be happier with it. The thing is pristine—I purchased it from the original owner who apparently never touched it. I did have a scare when I opened the it as everything from the accessory compartment had emptied out into the case, and an Allen wrench was literally laying on the top of the body. I don't know how it happened, but I couldn't find a scratch anywhere.

Couple cool features on this one is black binding and obviously the matching headstock. The color has a little bit more purple tint to it in person, and is every bit as bright as it looks here. It was supposedly a custom color matched to a pink highlighter. One not-so-cool feature is the original owner's signature on the headstock. Haven't decided what I'm going to do about that yet, but options include a.) nothing, b.) putting a sticker or something over it, and c.) getting just the headstock refinished. Thankfully it's small and not super noticeable, so I'm no too worried about it for now.

It has 707s, which I'd planned on swapping out for a 707TW-R in the neck and a 81-7 in the bridge, but they actually sound really good, so I'm not so sure now.

Here are a few more pics...

That's an awesome find!! I personally wouldn't mind the headstock since it's so small, it's not like he got his name inlaid up the fretboard.

    Happy NGD!!!

    Looks great.

Imagine that, getting a custom built with your signature on it and never using it after it. (Unless there were different circumstances of course).

That thing is immensely amazing. I know someone who owns a Mike Shannon Soloist 7 with Abalone and it's like the epitome of what a Jackson should be. They also never shut up about how it's a Mike Shannon...

Could always do the Angel Vivaldi thing with the Agile where he stuck a "**** YOU" label maker sticker on there. You'll have the most edgy headstok!

Is the signature in sharpie? A white eraser might take it off, mineral spirits should also remove it without affecting the finish what so ever

Nah, unfortunately it’s under the clear, just like the logos. Not sure if they still let you, but that used to be allowed on Masterbuilts.
