I've had this for a little over a month and love it. It's my 4th 8 from the same brand and I've had three 7's by them. Ordered this one and it's a keeper. Not much else to say other than if you have not tried a KxK you owe it to yourself to try one.

    General Specs:
    25.5 - 28" scale, semi-hollow
light weight mahogany body / neck thru with some light flame
black binding on neck and headstock
    darker mahogany top with f-hole
    purple heart center and covers
ziricote fret board and bobbins with sap wood
    stainless frets with rounded edges
    volume / tone / 3-way
abalone inlays with hollow circles on 12 & 24
    abalone logo symbol
    sperzel locking tuners

I've had 3 ViK 8 strings, several Mayones, a few Strandbergs, custom TK Instruments FF8 headless and I keep coming back to this brand. I love the craftsmanship and playability these instruments present. Now to find that elusive semi-hollow 7. The other pics are two I let go, the redwood burl was sold to a friend to fund this build and the buckeye 8DC was sold because I've come to grips with not liking alder as a body wood.

The TK was super nice and I worked with Todd for about 18 months on it. Pure perfection man, I sourced the burled walnut top myself and solid rosewood neck. I didn't care to much for the asymetrical neck profile and the fact that he forgot the flamed maple binding that separated the rosewood neck form the goncalo alves fretboar really bummed me out. Hence the newer KxK's.

That is killer... and I don't know what variety it is but that flamed mahogany just sounds MASSIVE. I absolutely LOVE my 7DC made out of that stuff.

That is awesome and great to see some new builds from KxK! Happy NGD!

Looks like some kind of South American mahogany which in my experience is huge sounding.

They are Rob's own "brand". He winds them himself and I asked for ceramic magnets. I've learning over the years to just let him do his thing, as he seems to know what suites each instrument best, ex: a semi-hollow 8 string.

A major reason I dig KxK is the semi-hollow options he puts out. Semi-hollows in 7's 8's are just the GOAT.

Thanks guys. Semi-hollow is my bag and I hate thinking about the Sii7 ff with spalted top I sold.

It truly does and super light. Lighter than most headless I've owned and balances perfectly.

What scales on that Oni? I'd love to hear it if you've got means to record. And a way of massaging the pound/aus dollar exchange rate in my favour.

The scale length is 26.8 - 29.3 and it feels great to me. The exchange rate is easily found on Google, plus Dan's super easy to talk to. Pop him a message if you're in the market. Biggest hassle was waiting on the Cities for the rosewood neck, other than that, super smooth shipping.
