Alright, I'm not exactly sure how to begin a review with the constant distraction of the overload of orange. This particular model was a limited run back in 2012, & was only sold in the UK & Japan, if I remember correctly. It's got a basswood body (and a pretty heavy one at that) a 3 piece Wizard III neck, maple fretboard, crappy INF3/INF4 stock pickups, and a Gibraltar hardtail bridge.

Upon first inspection out of the box, I checked out the neck for bow, sharp fret ends, string action, etc. The neck is the straightest I've ever had straight out of the box, no sharp fret edges, and the action is perfectly low.

I've got a few guitars that have a Wizard III neck, so it was really easy to just pic up and play without having to get used to it. Other Wizard III necks sometimes don't have that great of fret work, but this one seems top-notch. Definitely feels higher grade than a standard RG. The only things I feel need work is the intonation and maybe a fret polish, plus I'll be swapping out the stocks for some Black Winters :mf666:

Definitely gonna get some outdoor pictures next time I have a day off and the weather is good, plus I'll be making a demo for it.

Swap that bridge out for the Gibraltar II and it'll be a winner!

THIS! I returned an Ibanez S series because it had the Gibraltar I. To get the action where I wanted it I had to lower the saddles to the point where the shoulders of the bridge were higher, there for making it a pain in the ass to play. Anyways, congrats, that thing looks awesome.

In the future try shimming your neck a little.

I doubt he'd buy another guitar with that bridge again lol. Shimming necks should be a last resort, your whole neck will be at a different angle to the body.

    Orange? Tick.
    Maple on the fretboard? Tick.
    Hardtail? Tick.

Tasty guitar! :) Just change the pickups and enjoy!:shred:

Mad guitar for the $$$, I have one of these a few years back. Only sold it due to the bridge they put on it. As mentioned already if you can swap the bridge it would be awesome.

If I come across a Gibraltar Standard II in Black (not Cosmo Black) then I'll definitely swap it out. Any ideas for an awesome strap to go with it? :shred:

Ibanez prints their logo on the paper neck shims they've been using for 30+ years. If you have an AANJ, odds are that it has one. I'm surprised people don't list their Ibanez on eBay with a "NO NECK SHIM NEEDED AT FACTORY" subtitle to be more enticing.

I'd never buy a guitar with a Gibraltar, but shimming the neck won't turn your RG into a Les Paul. I've rarely had to use anything thicker than a business card - a little makes a big difference.

I got one of these too. I couldn't resist the colour and seemed a bargain. I might change the pickguard, though. Either white or transparent. Everyone's talking about bridges. Are there replacement bridges that are better? I didn't know there were. And would you need to re-drill the mounting holes? The only thing I don't like about the stock bridge are the quite sharp corners.

The Gibraltar Standard II is almost identical to the Standard, except for the edges are lower so its more comfortable to play, but I haven't had any issue with the stock
