Ok guys, this is my second NGD thread today. I got this guitar 3 days ago. It is an Ibanez presige RGA 121 in violin flat finish. It is a players guitar and has scratches and all kinds of battlescars.

The neck is very comfortable and it plays like a dream. :shred:
The bridge is a real nice surprise too. It is much more cofortable than I thought it would be.

The only thing that I don't like very much are the pickups. Maybe swap them out in the future. Maybe against CL/LF.

    any other suggestions?

Here are some pics. Hope you like them. :yesway:

@pups: Mine had the dimarzio / ibz pups and sounded good, I don't know much about the v7/8's other than most people swap 'em out.

The CL/LF I had in mine sounded great, but:

    Step 1: Install BKP Painkillers
    Step 2: ...
    Step 3: CONQUER EVERYTHING!!!!!!

    Srsly.

The wood combination in this guitar really pairs well with the PK's in particular, plenty of body and bite with the ability to get REALLY tight for the Djenty stuff if you're looking for that sound. I was ridiculously impressed with mine.

Nice score! i just got rid of mine actually for a 1421F. I loved this thing though. The mahogany was so warm sounding and the crunchlab with it made a perfect match. You might have to go with PK's though as Watty stated. Just better pickups for your money but i was perfectly satisfied with mine having a CL. Enjoy that thing!

+1 on the Painkillers. I have a Painkiller in the bridge of my RGA121 and it sounds really good. Super clear and tight with plenty of mids.

These older prestige guitars seem better than the newer ones

Maybe my favourite production Ibanez ever :yesway:

If you can afford it, Painkillers are supposed to be basically made for mahogany. I had a Warpig in mahogany and it sounded great.

If you're on a budget, D Activators rip in mahogany :)

Congrats, man! One the greatest Ibanez ever built!

As for pickups I can speak from experience with my RGA121 and I can only advise you to try a set of BKP Aftermath.

I went through the stock pickups, a variety of Dimarzios (D Activator, Paf Pro, Evolution, CL/LF, ToneZone/Air Norton etc. tralala), Seymour Duncan Blackouts and ended up loving the Aftermath in it!
As you can see I'm a big pickup whore, but with the Aftermath I never had the urge of swapping them out...

Congrats! Nice guitar! I posess an RGA321 and my brother has an RGA121.
    RGA121 is a descent guitar
pros: nice shape, rather thin archtop body, comfortable neck, hardtail bridge.
cons: no screening (graphite), so-so pickups, frets on that particular guitar were unleveled.
After screening, fret leveling, crowning and polishing, changing of the pups - the guitar started to shine.

For pickups I'd highly recommend (for metal stuff):
    1) BKP Warpigs (this is what I have in my 321)
    2) WCR (Shredder, Ironman, Godwood (for neck)) in 121
    3) MotorCity Pickups Modern line as smb mentioned before
    4) Lundgren M6 or The One are also great

Thanks for all the posts, guys!

I will try some BKPs, especially painkillers, in the future.

I desperately want one of these! Why on earth do Ibanez not make anything like this anymore...
