This may be my new favorite. Can't stress enough how awesome this guitar plays.

2005 Charvel Pointy Reissue, got it used from a guy on Rig Talk. I'm pretty excited and feel fortunate that he hit me up.

There is some info out there on these but in short this is pretty much custom shop quality Charvel without the CS name.

Single Hum/single knob, no nonsense and straight to the point. I was never intending on getting a jet black guitar or a Charvel when I was looking but I did a little research and the one deal I had going fell through so I snagged this one up.

I have been into bursts and flames lately but I don't care because this guitar plays fantastic. Also sounds very good acoustically. Unfortunately my amps aren't here so I have to wait a couple of days to plug it in.

The Ebony board is clean, dark and smooth. The inlays look very nice up close and overall this is just a great playing guitar.

Perfect neck and the weight distribution is on point. Idk where to stop blabbing but I'm super happy with this purchase.

Hot damn that is sick!! Congrats, that's one "none-more-black" 80s shredder if I've ever seen one. Nailed it.

I was told Duncan Custom. I haven't taken it out to check yet. I plan to call charvel at some point to see what else I can find out. I'm not sure on the woods used. I think Alder/Maple but not sure.

Finally got to plug it into my stack and it sounds just as good as it plays. Very huge sounding, tons of roar and bite. Maybe a bit too much bite as I was finding myself turning the mids down on the Buxom Boost more than I normally do but I am damn happy with this guitar.

Way off topic but I have a lot of testing to do now. I tried it with my JP2C and a Mesa OS which sounds killer. I am not sure who knows about the JP2C but to me it is an almost perfect amp but I am used to a Rev 2 Uberschall so I find the JP2C missing that thunderous low end. I have an ISP Vector SL that I need to bring to the spot and I am thinking adding that will make this a perfect rig.

Still have a few other boost pedals and cabs with another amp to try but at the very least I get a killer sound that I am happy with already.

WOW... That is stunning! I've been generally torn on whether I should get a Charvel due to them not being up my aesthetic alley, but ... that one is! Wishing you well with it in the future. I'll have to keep my open for one of these moving forward, as is something I'd definitely be interested in.

I really like it and would recommend it to anyone if you can get past their finish options (or lack thereof). The Non recessed Floyd is a bit strange to me as I have only had floating but I am really enjoying the 1 knob/1 pickup config.

Without having played a true custom shop I cannot say if it is actual CS quality. I was going off of the info I could find online which does point to CS. However, it does play and sound fantastic. Although it is a completely different guitar on every angle I would put it up there with my ESP Standard. The quality is absolutely there and I think it sounds better BUT the ESP is lighter and yeah, preferences/differences.

Either way it is well worth it for me. For the first time in a long time I am happy with everything that I have regarding guitars and gear. Just a few more little things and I am set. :)

I love the feeling when I'm satisfied with gear that I own, glad to hear you're having that feeling as well!

HNGD. Is it just me, or does Charvel have the coolest headstock logos? Might be just me. But I dig those logos for some reason.

That is an awesome find. I didn't know they did a re-issue of the pointy headstock.

My first guitar was a 86 Model 2 so I know the joy of single hum single volume.
