What ever happened to the epic singer they used to have? I don't hear his vox in any of the songs.... guess he got the boot :(

EDIT: some epic cleans a few songs in, just less of em, is it the same dude who I'm thinking of? :yesway:

EDIT X2: This is some seriously awesome fucking shit.

Sounds awesome and really looking forward to the album. I have been listening to their stuff since release of 11 dreams. Will see them along with Nevermore and Symphony X on Feb 25 in Stuttgart. :hbang:

The band split up, I think only two of the original members are in the band anymore. I haven't listened to this yet so I'll reserve judgement but I'm expecting it to sound like a completely different band.

The bassist now does all the vocals and on the strength of this, it's preorder time.

Has he always done vocals? His voice sounds like he may have... Anyway, after a few more listens, I gotta say I really like at least half the songs on the album :hbang:

Did they not used to have 2 singers?

Lost Reality = best damn song this band has written

On the last album Architect of Lies it was Mikkel Sandager doing the clean vocals and René Pedersen (bassist) doing the growls etc. Now René is doing all the vocal work and to be honest I love his voice.

Further back it was Henrik "Kral" Andersen doing the growls with Mikkel doing the cleans/screams.

    In short yes.

Architect of Lies is an INCREDIBLE song... VERY Nevermoreish. And that's a good thing.

Ugh, just finished listening to it. It has a few good moments but I certainly won't be buying it. They ditched most of the stuff that I liked from 11 Dreams and The Hours That Remain in favor of something that sounds much more 'metalcore meets radio rock' as an attempt to get more popular. This must be why half of the band quit, they didn't want to play this shit when they were capable of so much more.

I'll have to listen to this when I get home. I loved 11 Dreams, but I wasn't terribly enthusiastic about The Hours That Remain or Architect of Lies.

Mercenary's line-up has been a revolving door over time. Kral was the only vocalist on their first album. After that, both him and Mikkel Sandager sang on Everblack and 11 Dreams. Then on The Hours That Remain, it was Mikkel Sandager and Jacob Hansen (who is both the band's producer and the lead vocalist for Anubis Gate). Then, finally on Architecht of Lies it was Mikkel Sandagger and Rene Pederson.
