    are you using an overdrive (OD) pedal in front?
    if you have a peavey vypyr I think they have an OD pedal built in to the amp, definitely use that as it will help filter out the muddy low end.

    I have a Blackjack A8 with the Nazgul/Sentient set and there is definitely tight, articulate low end in there. Lower gain, heavier string, and a boost OD as mentioned should get you there.

    Thanks everyone ill try everything out on the hunt for some strings that fit the 28" neck now.

    Have you tried bias fx? I get really good tones for my 8string with that plugin.
