So I found the Ibanez I've been looking for for a while, a Blue-Green Chameleon XPT700. The problem is, I'd have to offload one of the guitars I have now, and I dont wanna sell any of my ibbies, meaning the only real option is my Kiesel V220.

Yes I know the XPT700 is an Indonesian model, but I've heard that the quality on the XPTs were pretty good overall (for reference, my first real RG was an Indonesian RG350EXZ and that was a really nice guitar tbh). However, I'm not entirely sold on the idea of giving up a USA made guitar for an Indonesian one, especially when I know that at least my kiesel just needs some slight work, like a new input jack, to be ready for showtime. I cant actually go test the XPT out as it's pretty far away, but just on the information I've given, can anyone put in their two cents on the idea? Just looking for some advice on this situation. Thanks :)

This and I had a Ibanez VBT700 which is from the same production line and quality as the Xiphos. Decent guitar and a nice workhorse instrument that sounded great but I would not sell the V220 to get it. Plus the Edge III doesn't have the best reputation unless you're getting the fixes bridge model. You'll have cash to spare of course as you'll probably get more in Japan for the Kiesel but the only way this would make sense is if you're sick of the Kiesel for whatever reason or you play the Xiphos and you feel it's worth it.

There are two, one of each chameleon color. One is 40,000 yen, the other (blue/green) is 50,000. both look to be in great condition.

Oh I know ALL about the Edge III

I'm not sick of it at all, I just dont like the kiesel logo on it. i'm sure if I had ordered the Carvin logo, I wouldnt be so opposed to it I guess.

The XPTs were typically solid, but there were plenty of lemons.

If the Xiphos is your holy grail or Moby Dick, sure, take a theoretical hit on value and make it happen, especially if there's some baggage attached to the V220.

Would I make that deal? I don't know. I dig Xiphos, but unless you can play it or its coming from a place that does returns it's pretty risky. They're getting rarer and rarer, but they're not absolutely impossible to snag.

Do you see yourself holding onto the Xiphos for a long time?

nah, my holy grail was always an RFR, which i have now.

good point about returns. That's not available as it's on yahoo japan auctions.

Then skip it. For now at least.

Have you considered the XPIR? That way you can get a Xiphos and throw an MIJ neck on it.

If it's really a guitar you want, you'd find a way to get it.

Sounds like it's time to sell English lessons to Yakult ladies and hoikuen moms on the side.

That's a good point. I don't actually think I've seen any of the IRs around, and definitely none locally.

didn't the XPIRs have an ez2?
