Anyone using one of these in F# as an 8-string stand-in?

The thing that's potentially putting me off is the bridge pickup looks a long way from the bridge so I don't know if it's always going to sound more bass-like than guitar-like.

Any particular reason to go for this over anything else?

These are cool guitars, in all kinds of tunings. It's really all about how you set them up.

I want something with longer than 29" scale is why I'm particularly thinking of one of these. I had an m80m and loved the sound of the low strings but found the high strings shrill and harsh. Really I'm more after the low end riffing than the ability to play rhythm and lead on the same instrument at the same time so that's why I'm thinking of at least trying a long scale 6 before looking at a multiscale 8.

I think with proper setup and pickup swap it'll be good. I don't remember the pickups being especially great for tight metal tones.
