This guy is always in my youtube feed these days but I'm not a huge fan of what I see. Not trying to hate on the guy, I'd just like to hear what you guys think about this guy.

The channel is called Music is Win. I agree that the videos I've seen are basically pointless.

Yeah the 'Music is win' thing has also popped up in my feed a couple of times, and I agree they are all pointless and also boring... what does it actually take to become a youtube celeb these days?

I think Tyler (that's his name) is a funny guy.
Some videos are more umoristic than others, but the videos are to promote his teaching program/system.

The content of the videos is not bad, but it's mainly to promote the other stuff.

Is this the guy who frames his videos so that his channel "logo" is an ever-present screensaver on his desktop in the background, splits a three-lick beginner lesson into scheduled uploads for marketing purposes, and gives the impression he really really wants PRS to notice he films himself playing one of their guitars?

It probably only means I'm an old fart, but I'd prefer if YouTube guitar teachers tried to achieve Influencer-status through lessons viewers find valuable - Most of the channels I see are blatantly guys using the pretense of a guitar lesson channel to pimp themselves out for potential endorsements based on the phony-baloney "marketable" character they're playing, and not because they have faith in the quality of their playing or teaching to help them stand out. If they give off a vibe of not standing behind the one product they're presumably selling (lessons/impressive playing), then it's a safe bet that they're only selling themselves as potential ad space.

You can always spot these channels from the thumbnails they use.

If you enjoy Adam Neely you should also check out his buddy Ben Levin's page:

I was going to say I find Ben Levin's shtick a bit too much for my tates, but then... there's that one where he sets out as if he's going to do a gear rundown and it devolves into deep existential angst, which was amazing.

I find a few good nuggets of wisdom here and there from him. His videos are slightly annoying because he isn't that funny of a guy, but tries to be funny. Yeah it's just a way for you to buy stuff from him, but I don't have an issue with that since it's free anyway.
