Hey Mike, I've been loooooong term Mojo fan (seen them every time they've made it over here since Pigwalk), so I've had the pleasure of seeing you do 'Raise the Deadman' a few times :shred:

I was at the London Guitar show as well with the 'The Duke' and 'Mojo' split, the day that Rich managed to nearly kick his shoe over the lighting rig :hbang:

    Welcome onboard

Thanks for posting the pictures from Jemfest Leon! Gotta love that orange!

The guitar show was pretty cool last year. We did a show every night leading up to the weekend and during the course of the weekend we did 6 shows in 36 hours! It was crazy:
Saturday Morning: The Duke @ the London Guitar Show
Saturday night: The Duke opens for Fozzy @ The Asoria
Saturday night: Fozzy headlines the Astoria
Saturday LATE night: Fozzy hosts a metal dj spot at a local club
Sunday Morning: The Duke plays the London Guitar show
Sunday morning: Stuck Mojo plays the London guitar show
Sunday night: Stuck Mojo headlines at a club (I can't remember where but I think we had to travel a bit outside of London to get there)

It was a week I will never forget!

    Welcome, Mike.

Mike is one of the nicest, most humble guys I've ever met (we met at Jemfest '05). Monster player, too.

    :yesway:

Didn't know you had a solo album out. Must investigate. :D

Well, I got my copy of "2 of 5" from Mike Martin after ordering it online. I was unable to post this in the Artists' Review section because I don't have no priveleges, so I'll post it here.

    And thus...

    CD: 2 of 5
    Artist: Mike Martin

I met Mike Martin at Jemfest 2005. If you've ever met Mike Martin, the one word that would describe him is: gentleman. He's very soft-spoken, and he doesn't say much, but when he does speak you want to be listening. He's very intelligent, but he doesn't beat you over the head with it. If you've ever seen him play, you know he can shred with the best of them.

I say all of this because when you're listening to "2 of 5", it's as if you're talking with Mike Martin. This record is "about art and emotional expressionism by any means necessary. Raw, Honest, and without Fear.". He comes across very well on record. His songs have energy. They move (both forward and sideways). He's got great tone, and the production is great.

There are great moments of shred on this record (truth be known, just like most other records, they're a necessary evil). Where you really want to be listening though, is when Mike is speaking with 3 notes instead of 30. That's when you'll hear the real Mike Martin; in those tortured, intimate moments where he opens up and shows you he's vulnerable.

I can only hope to have that much courage on record one day. I don't have a favorite track yet, as I've only listened to it twice. There will be many more listenings. Definitely worth my time and $.

The JSX is probably my favorite amp that I've owned. Not that I've gone through a giant collection! But I've worked for music stures as a guitar salesman in the past and have had a great opportunity to demo just about everything out there. For the money you just can't beat this amp!

Ken, this may be the single greatest compliment I have ever received. Thank you! You know how much I respect your playing. This really means a lot to me.
