Preferably something as small as possible (pedalboard friendly)

Say i want to use some reverb, chorus and noise gate together for instance.
I heard even the eventide h9 can only do a single algorithm at a time, same with line6 m5 etc. Is this just not possible yet?

If thats tha case it kind of makes midi pointless, for me at least.

... all digital FX pedalboards do that... Line6 PODs and newer Helix (there's a very small one on the group), Headrush, Boss GTs...

If, on the other hand you prefer to use stompboxes for specific brand FXs, take a look at Boss ES8 and similar pedal switchers, there are a lot of choices for different pockets.

Is there any pedal sized units? Also i dont need any amp moddelling.
Im toying with the idea of using midi for fx on my new amp head that has a midi assignable footswitch.

The hxfx and stomp are going to be the size of a timeline. For small as possible, you will still have modeling with the stomp. Im guessing hxfx can change channels on your amp.

    Nah.

It's not small, but it's not big either.

There's the HX Stomp, which isn't as versatile but will do the job as well.

I've had the HXFX since launch and it has basically replaced my pedalboard. I have every faith that it can do the thing you want it to do. I use it to control my 5150 III through midi so I basically have presets that do everything I want. I go from the red channel with a gate and a drive to the clean channel with 2 delays, a reverb, a comp, and a back massager with just one tap.

I should mention when I say "not as versatile' it's because it only holds 6 effects vs the HXFX's 8 or 9 (can't recall) and only had 3 buttons. But given your needs, that's probably plenty.

And like I said, there's always the Line 6 M9. These are pretty much the only options I can think of that are small and have MIDI.

It's not Helix or POD HD size, but like I said it's not the smallest, most compact pedal. It's 11 inches wide and 8 inches tall. The POD HD is 21 inches wide and 10 inches tall.

Im quite intrigued by the hx stomp..
What do u mean "holds" only 6 fx?

So my amp has a 4 button midi assignable footswitch to control clean, crunch, boost, fx loop.

So if i have the hx stomp connected can i assign say the clean channel to have reverb+chorus+eq . Then the crunch ch with oh i dont know, od + eq+ noise gate.
Then on the fx loop ch have delay+ phaser + eq + whatever.
And so on and so forth.

The hx stomp only has 3 buttons but that doesnt even matter since id just be using it with midi ... Right??

I'm actually wondering if you could use your footswitch with the HX Stomp. That way you can have 7 different presets at your disposal, or 4 presets + control 3 individual effects.

And what I mean is that the HX Stomp has a 6 block limit. So you're limited to using 6 effects at a time, or 5 effects + an amp block. But since you aren't using amp sims, that won't be of concern to you.

I like my M9 for basic stuff, but it wouldn't be my first choice to base my entire rig around since it doesn't do 4CM or any amp relays/controls. The effects in it are really good, though, and it's a great value used
