    Hello folks.

I recently lost my job so money is a bit tight at the moment.
Are there any good cheap 7 strings available?

Ok stop! let's start by the begining. Budget, colour, shape, bridge, style of music, active or passive PU and the most important: new or used?

In order to raise build quality, better go used...

Seems like a safe bet that guitars made in Japan or Korea are pretty well made, and Japanese or Korean built guitars made in the late '90s and early 2000s can be found for very cheap. Not an issue on the Japanese guitars, but some of the Korean guitars from that time used suspect hardware (namely the Floyd bridges), but the build and fretwork should be pretty good IMHO.

I too say used Ibanez. Especially the RG7's. Japan or Indonesia or whatever. Good solid guitars that play nice and stay in tune well, as most of them have Gotoh tuners. I would change the pickups. The stock ones are okay but don't do basswood justice. Duncan Nazgül or Distortion in the bridge and call it a day. Or if you like actives, EMG 707. Sounds so good in a basswood RG7.

The only possible problem with used guitars from late 90's is... how the frets are. Some might need a some dressing, others might be needing a refret, so consider that extra as part of the price...
