I’ve found one very cheap local, and I’m thinking about grabbing it for nostalgic Meshuggah / Fear Factory feels.

I had a POD Pro in ‘04 literally because of ‘Nothing’. I don’t remember a whole lot about it, as I only used it for about half a year. Not because it was bad, I just ended up trading it for a 5150.

It says the POD 2.0 has 32 amps, but I see the 16 amp models on the front. Where are the rest located?

You hold down the TAP button next to the display and then select with the same dial as the first 16 amps.

It should say something to that effect on the front by that dial. If not, you might be looking at a 1.0.

Ok, I read the manual and they’re located in the Tap button.

Still this should be a laugh.

What are you running it though?

Every once in a while I get the urge to find an old XT, X3, or 2.0, just for the sake of nostalgia.

If I grab it, it’ll be going through my 44 Magnum. Same as my KPA.

Turning off the AIR and running it through an amp and cab or impulse response might surprise you. I think they're only 16 bit, but still.

Believe it or not, I still use an X3 and run it through a Mooer Radar ir loader and it sounds absolutely insane. Back in the day when I had an XTL board, there were only 3 or 4 amp sims that I could get a tone that I really connected with. After turning off the internal cabs & using a loader, the Diezels, Engls, etc are all sounding 100% better.

If you have access to a Radar, Torpedo CAB or other such loader, you'd be gob smacked at the results you can get from the old Pod XT line.

Yeah I remember being blown away when I realised that the cab sims are the Achilles heel of line 6’s old stuff.

I do still have an old toneport, which has the XT models in it, and they sound great if I run it into my 2/50/2 power amp and a cab.

As an Amplifire owner I say it doesn't sound nothing like that with hi-gain, Deluxe Reverb and AC30 models were more accurate and everything would sound different with 3rd party ir's anyway. Kemper is not so dependant how it's dialed in because of profiles and others were dialed in badly just fiddlling around with presets.

Yeah, I've never heard an Amplifire sound like that in person. I had the AFB and it was fantastic! I enjoyed this video simply for the POD. It's assuming more than anything.

I came across a dirt cheap xt yesterday and I bought it partially because of this topic. (I've also been on the lookout for a practicing solution at home that I can quickly get going and drop since I'm changing diapers nowadays :D. Much to my surprise, I actually do have to look up a lot because of how easy our units are now. And this coming from someone who used a gsp2101 for years Xp.

I used to play a Digitech 2120 at Music college. At the time it was state of the art. I remember they had a POD 1.0 on the desk with it. Back then we were all pedal jockeys with our Boss MT-2’s or cheap Zoom / Korg multifx. So the new digital stuff was mind blowing! Haha

Bought a 2.0 on eBay, should be here by Friday, damn youuuuuu

The 2.0 was a bit before my time really, the podXT was out when I started playing electric guitar, and that’s what I had.

The transition from 1.0/2.0 to the XT models was probably the biggest jump in quality until they went from X3 (which were just slightly spruced up XT models) to the HD line.

Pretty much everything ran on XT stuff until the HD.

I'd say the biggest innovation between the 2.0 & the XT was both the led screen on the unit and the addition of a pc editor so you could actually see what changes you made to a patch.

Oh for sure. I was talking about the models.

I definitely think the dual screen setup, starting with the Vetta, was great too.

Ok I got it. I believe this is one of the older eprom models rather than the updated flash memory ones, as it has the single-digit screen, and old logo.

This actually sounds pretty good, I’m honestly surprised. I guess now I get why Line 6 got popular in the first place. In my opinion this sounds better and is easier to get a good tone from, than my Toneport (which has all XT/X3 models on it). I need to tune up my 8 string now and play some Nothing riffs.

It sounded kinda meh at first, until I switched the AIR mode to Direct, suddenly sounded 100% better.

I am boosting it with a real boost, and running it into a tube poweramp and guitar cab though, so it is getting some help.

Favourite models so far are the Rectified and Brit Hi Gain.

I'm not. Once you bypass the shitty cab modelling and instead use an impulse or run it through a real power amp and cab those old PODs still sound pretty good, even if they're not up there with the modern modellers.
