    Hey guys!

This will be the official thread for Liggett Guitars.

It's about time that I introduced myself! I'm Ben Liggett, a luthier from Tulsa Oklahoma. I've been working as a luthier for Bishline Banjos for the past two years,
trying to soak up all the knowledge I can about the business of making instruments. I've been gearing up for production and I'm finally ready to begin taking orders.

Check out my site LiggettGuitars.com and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

    Thanks,

    Ben

Yes unfortunately, it shipped to a customer in London last month. The fretboard, headplate and top are from a persimmon tree I cut down several years ago. There wasn't a lot of great wood from that tree so those timbers are pretty limited.

For those not in the know Persimmon is in the Diospyros genus and ebony family. Good sized pieces of Persimmon that are suitable for use in a guitar are quite rare and not commonly in circulation in the guitar industry, at least not where I've looked. Extra points are awarded for harvesting the tree in addition to making a sick guitar with it.

Reminiscent of the style of rosette popular among many acoustic builders these days.

Hey guys, this is my most recent build.
This is a 25.5" scale six string with a chambered ash body, butternut headstock, English walnut top and Oregon walnut neck. Ebony fretboard, jumbo pyramid frets, Schaller Hannes bridge, Bareknuckle "Aftermath" pickups and hipshot locking open-gear tuners. This guitar's final weight is 6.6 lbs. MSRP for this guitar is $2799.
Click Here for more pics and info about the guitar. Also, feel free to email me at LiggettGuitars@gmail.com for any purchase inquiries or questions. Thanks!

Hey man I've been following your work since we were neighbors in Owaso! Are you finding any wood combination in particular to be your favorite? Multi-scale 8 sounds very enticing!

Hey there! Long time no see! Two woods I've been geeking out over are persimmon and butternut. Persimmon is a North American cousin to Ebony, it's super hard but much much lighter. It looks remarkably similar to black and white Ebony which has been popular in luthiery lately. Butternut, aka white walnut, is freakishly lightweight! It is still quite stiff, but so lightweight it must be up there with spruce as far as strength to weight ratio. I've been harvesting persimmon from my land and stashing it away for future builds. I love the idea of building lightweight guitars with North American woods.
Stay tuned for the next multiscale 8, it's getting close!

I'm super honored and excited to have recently completed a custom model for Emil Amos from the bands Holy Sons, OM, Grails and Lilacs And Champagne. He dubbed it the "East of Sweden" model. It's a hardtail guitar with an English Walnut top, chambered Mahogany body, and a butternut neck. It weighed in at 7 lbs, which I was happy with for a standard thickness mahogany body. It's loaded with a set of Lollar "tweed" pickups and they are CREAMY. It arrived just in time to be recorded on the next Grails record, which I'm pretty excited about.:hbang:
