I'll step in. And I'll publicly admit I have a tad of a wood hoarding problem. I think I have enough wood right now for at LEAST 10 bodies, 25 necks, probably 50 figured tops (You see the pile of figured slabs on the one bottoms shelf - I have another box with at least 8 more slabs). Yeah. I had to force myself to stop watching RWoodson's auctions after a while. He's like a crack dealer.

My next build is a vintage-y white limba V. It will have gold hardware, black PG, ebony headstock veneer (1/8") and EMG Hetfield pups. I'm also going to cut up that board of mahogany and wedge a center line of birdseye in them (two bodies). I just got a sweet super strat template from Potvin Guitars that I'm going to use A LOT.

Anyway, I'll answer any questions. Most of the wood is fairly identifiable, with maybe the exception of the Peruvian Walnut board or the quilted Sapele neck blanks. Again, yes, I have a problem!! :D

All of my book matched maple, walnut, and bocote potential tops etc. Book matching is addictive!
I keep them taped together so they don't get mixed up.

TimSE, that is a hell of a stash for someone who hasn't started building yet! Where did you get that koa from? I don't see it often in the UK.

Liking that design you've come up with.

Lol yeah you're not wrong! It's an ambishious start but I have many plans and will be doing batch builds and making a few guitars at a time. I couldn't decide which designs to go with so decided to do a bunch at a time.

As for the Koa, yeah its all imported from usa ebay. Never seen any for sale over this way. Its a little costly with import and shipping ontop of an already pricey wood but its soooooooooo nice!

tasmanian blackwood is a bit cheaper than koa and is quite similar lookswise/tonally from what I've been told. might be something to look into

Luckily Canada is a real hot spot for maple and walnut. I managed to swing a pretty nice 2A flame top, walnut neck blank, ash body, and gorgeous flame maple board for a doublecut build I have a local builder starting in January. A nice zebrawood neck blank, walnut fingerboard, poplar body, and a stunning spalted maple top for a superstrat build as well. Besides that, I have a bunch of smaller pieces for kitchen knife handle blanks. I'll post pics when I get home.
