Hello, I do solo gigging project and was thinking of taking my only song with vocals and instead of having to multi task vocals with guitar live would it be dishonest or wrong for me to put the vocals on the backing track so that i can concentrate on guitar playing/patch changes only live?

    Thanks for the advice.

I wouldn't say dishonest nor wrong, but certainly distracting... it would take the attention away from the guitar. It also would potentially trigger inattentive people to ask "who is singing?".

Yeah, I'd definitely be distracted, personally.

I'd be kind of put off by that honestly. I believe a lot of people in your audience would too.

Keys, backup singing, or other minor things on a backing track is one thing, but lead vocals would seem a bit much I think.

    Just my :2c: though.

Like most people said, I think it would be strange.

But at the end of the day its your call!

I think best case scenario is, if its your only song with vocals just learn to sing and play it.

That's a win win right there. I always say the easiest song's to sing and play are the ones you wrote too. You can do it!

I just called Geddy Lee, and he said not only should you play and sing live, but he recommends playing bass pedals with your feet, too.
