I've been getting into jazz and latin music (classical, and probably bossa nova) as of late, learning jazz chords and playing mestis songs (Luz y Cielo in particular). I'd really appreciate suggestions of songs, standards and sources, etc to look at. I'm posting here because I also want to be able to utilize my 7 string, and the 7th string when playing these genres.

As a side note, in terms of jazz, if anyone can point to some really good sources on improvising, as well as sources on jazz fusion and sweep picking within it (haven't listened to much gambale, but i like what I hear) that'd be batman beyond ill.
Wanna get those sheets of sound like the coltrane on guitar.

I really like Carlos Montoya. It's flamenco, but that's like a sub-category of Latin, right? I'm not even sure because it's Spanish. Is Spanish Latin? It isn't jazz. I'm sorry.

Flamenco has zero to do with Latin music. Completely different art.

Yeah, thank you for correcting me, my bad if I'm completely ignorant about anything; I'm trying to break new ground.

My mom is Spanish, from La Puebla de Cazalla, near Sevilla, and she would genuinely be offended if you called Flamenco a sub-category of Latin, haha.

Really Flamenco isn't even Spanish, it's unique to Andalucia.

Anyway, if its Flamenco you are interested in, some of my favourite players: Moraito, Tomatito, Vincente Amigo and Enrique de Melchor.

thank you, I'll check it out. sorry; like, I said, I'm still pretty ignorant, and just trying to find something that isn't just metal to influence my tastes, with emphasis on the original genres mentioned.

Villalobos is probably a good start for "classical" music
