that v is looking good...
have you ever done an explorer/destroyer shape?
I've not done anything beyond sketches for an Explorer/Destroyer style...though if there's some interest, I'll happily develop a full design for one.
So I was doing a bit of sketching around an Explorer-style concept, and inspiration struck pretty hard.
Here we go, it's tentatively named the Exploder (but that'll likely change)
I'd love to hear your thoughts, SSO!
Looks massive, and pretty awesome.
But more importantly, that purple metallic paint!!
Thanks dude! I'll build that with any number of strings, straight or multiscale. If anyone is into it, you know where to find me
Went to a local lumberyard today and just had to grab this chunk of padauk.
I'm gonna use it for something big and mean....think Sauron's own 8-string.
...yes, I am a tremendous nerd.
oh my....that looks killer! i like what you did with the lower horn too.
i have an 83-85(?) destoyer dt-555bk that is black with, white binding. i always thought it would look great in reverse.
so how many people would have to sign up to make this shape happen?
Well hey, thank you!
I love old Ibanez guitars, yours sounds sweet! I think that white with black binding would look killer on this shape.
I'm not worried about minimums...if you like this design, let's make it happen
@M3CHK1LLA - I decided to try a render with your paint scheme, I think it looks badass.
Something like this?
That looks like something a cyborg James Hetfield would play in a futuristic Metalocalypse type show about Metallica.
Oh thats nice
dude! that looks great!
Hahaha that's awesome! I'd totally watch that show.
Thanks bud! PM replied
I decided to have a bit of fun before going back to painting and fretwork for the coming weeks:
....I might be listening to the Doom soundtrack too much.
oooh is that a paduak or bubinga body? I love the color of it contrasted with the wenge top.
Yep, you nailed it: padauk. One of my favorite woods to work with!
agreed on the padauk. in my limited working so far padauk has been my favorite to work with. very interested to see how this one turns out. great work.
More sanding and such for other projects, but I had to do a bit of work (and take pics!) of this one:
Current weight is (no lie) 6.66lb . Heavy, though quite appropriate.
Pearl purple 7 update: dots and frets are in! Neck carve starts tomorrow.
Hey SSO! I'm a little light on pictures this week, I've mainly been sanding and attending to little stuff that doesn't really translate well in a photographic sense.
Neck carve on the pearl purple 7 is about 98% done, just down to sanding and tiny refinements:
Something fun to look forward to:
