Hello SSO! My name is Andrew Knight, I'm a former Army satellite network coordinator; now currently a university student and luthier. I've been building/repairing/modifying guitars since 2002. I'm currently running a small business offering custom builds, repairs, setups, and so forth here in Tampa.

Now that the brief bio is over, here's my latest finished project.

    Specs:
    25-26" multiscale
    Padauk body and neck
Pau ferro fretboard and accent laminates
DiMarzio Air Norton (N), Air Zone(B)
    Hipshot solo bridges
    Hipshot open gear locking tuners

Great design and wood selection, but the unslanted pups/fanned frets-combo chafes my ass so hard. (No homo)

A good taste of things to come though!

    Thanks guys!
Roland- I totally understand your perspective on the non-angled pickups. I'm looking to incorporate more slanted pickups in the future, but in this case I wanted to use my favorite DiMarzio set :yesway:

Now that the red guitar is done and gone, please allow me to introduce its twin. The specs are identical save for the woods and pickups. I'm still working on this one, so I'll post an abbreviated series of progress pics over the next few days until we're up to the present day.

The body is black limba with a wenge top.

Very cool idea to cut the top to match the back!

^ Did you ever tell Jeff Kiesel that you have the secret formula to beveling guitars and making them look good? He probably really wants that formula.

Lest we get too distracted by the body, the neck is being worked on as well!

With one thread, I'm as eager for your updates as I am for pondman's. Great work - I hope for a future opportunity to play one of your guitars.

Wow, thank you so much! High praise indeed, I'm not sure I deserve it.

I have a few upcoming projects that are going to need homes.... just sayin' ;)

Love how that body has turned out, that's an amazing piece of black limba! Also really interesting how you cut your necks so the accent strip is angled.

Thank you! The angle is due to the scarf joint being a compound angle rather than one dimensional. This way, it matches the angle of the nut shelf. The headstock ends up lightly twisted as well, which is a fun little detail.

Speaking of fun little details... pale moon ebony fretboard, matching wenge control cavity cover, and flush mount Straploks. I really don't like strap buttons for some weird reason.

Fast forward through a bunch of sanding and carve refinement, and we're current! Frets will go in early next week, then I can start to wrap this one up.
