His new album, The Devil Knows My Name, is easily his best. Best playing, best songs, best production. Plus, you get to hear Satch and Eric Johnson soloing over some heavier stuff for a change. Approved:yesway:

He is an amazing player, great to watch. There's something really fresh about his playing too, just totally different. :yesway:

dude that main riff in the first vid sounds a lot like a buckethead riff. it sounds like "jordan" or whatever its called, its on guitar hero 2.

I'm going to throw a spray can in the fire. I have his first CD and I was excited to get his new one. After listening to the new one a bunch, I feel a bit shruggish about it. His playing is unique and he's extremely talented, but listen to almost every solo? Same kinda phrasing, same busy note flying all over the place. Ok... I understand that's his style, metal-bluegrassy stuff, but I'll have to say I'm disapointed.

I didn't know he covered the Guns N' Roses tune, and when it first came on I shook my fist at my car radio. I'm probably one of the few who can't stand GNR, but c'mon??? Why that song?

I guess I was just looking for more of a variety in his playing instead of hearing the sound of 100 bees f***ing at a ho-down.

john 5 i'm getting more and more into. he is quite interesting. i'm into industrial stuff, and for the most part, i haven't come across a band that is impressive. they all just start sounding very boring and over played.

but john 5 i'm liking so far. he has a very sinister feel about his music that makes it look like it should be for some horror movie. he seems to be a fan of serial murderes and a lot of his songs are based on them.

also, he sounds a lot like buckethead. interesting.

I can't believe I just agreed with a youtube comment, heh. Particularly the ugly part though. :p

But when it sounds this good, who cares!

I heard the first few tracks and honestly, it really goes nowhere. I mean to me it seems like he's playing fast because he can and that's his justification for putting it in there but overall it's very robotic and emotionless.

That album rocks, same with the one before it (Songs for the Damned I think):hbang:

And yeah the songs with the guest players like Vai, Satch, Eric Johnson, Jim Root and even Albert Lee, are all fantabulous. :shred:

I think he's got a new one as well called Requiem.

I dig John 5, I remember hearing him, then hearing that he played with Manson and Rob Zombie, and was in disbelief
