I have a ash rgd is the titan a good choice?
Depends on what you play, but yeah, probably.
Tight metal. Melodic metal. Type stuff
I think you would be just fine with titan.
Yes. Do it.
I have a nazgul in my mahogany 7 sting and a pegasus in my ash 7 string and i love them both and the titan seems to be marketed towards the same type of player so i figured it my be my best bet
Yeah, go for it man.
The Titan bridge is a cool pickup, very tight and focused (a little too focused for me, but I still really like it).
This is a youtube shootout between the Titan, Nazgul, and Pegasus that may be helpful:
Not great for smooth jazz. You did not specify, so I assumed you wanted it for smooth jazz.
ridiculously tight feeling, works great for metal, but it needs more gain than other pickups to get a nice saturated sound imo. Overall a very dry sounding pickup, like a better d-activator (it's definitely based off the d-activator ime) or less clanky/metallic aftermath.
Is the imperium alil more natural soumding but still tight
I haven't played an imperium but it appears to be more 'natural/organic' overall, but it also has a lot less output.
I bought a Titan from Sweetwater and they sent me a neck pickup by accident and I didn't even realize till I took it out to trade off my backup. Had it in a crap Warlock 7 that the fb was separating on. Have a D Activator in my main RG, but couldn't put the Titan guitar down. It really is like a warmer D Activator and the mids are more chewy. Very enjoyable. Plus being a 10k pickup was so much easier to control with start/stop feedback. I really thought about doing the neck pickup thing in all my guitars like that.
I have a set of Titans ordered for my Ibanez (currently with TZ/AN combo) and I will probably do a comparison. They should be here within the next couple of weeks.
i have some old clips I did of the titan here:
This is pretty much my take on the Titan as well a less hot, thicker mids and tighter D-Activator. The neck is also great for cleans and liquidy leads. I'm using the pair in a Jackson DKMG, which is naturally fairly bright
