Is it possible to install a locking nut on this?: http://www.stringsite.com/images/IBANEZ_GRG170DX_CA.jpg

Sorry, I know this is a very amateur question, but I have literally no knowledge on nuts :p

It could be done, but it requires routing a shelf at the nut and drilling 2 holes. the strings would still (most likely) go out of tune at the bridge without a locking mechanism there as well, depending on how heavily you use the trem.

I can't see the pic but if you can't install a floyd style nut you could always install a Kahler behind the nut lock.

Possible? Yes. Will it actually benefit anything? No.

The only way a locking nut is beneficial is if the bridge is also locking and has fine tuners. It's why you don't see guitars with this kind of bridge and a locking not.
