Just wanted to share this with my favorite online community, I'm getting paid to play! I auditioned for the spot of session player at my school and made it. Which means I can work 20 hours a week helping audio students with their projects and get paid for my time playing. I'm also an audio student, but I can't get paid for working on my own sessions lol. Its mostly 70's pop songs, but I can't complain about getting paid to play guitar.

This should be happening more often... if talentless 20-something year olds can get paid rediculous amounts of money for shaking their butt around on a stage... just sayin'.

Guitarists are so under-rated. I suck at playing, but I understand the crap it takes to get half decent enough to play in front of about 50-100 people, and that when you play live, that's about 20% of the talent you are capable of busting out in the comfort of your own home, with no pressure, and the hours it takes to get there. So yeah, it is a talent to admire.

Why are you assuming that's not exactly what he's being paid to do at school? Even the next Eddie Van Halen does that.

I probably am one of the best players at my school, but that's not saying much. FLCC isn't exactly Berklee.

Update: the funding for my position has been cut. Such is the way of publicly funded schools.

Well, that sucks. Too bad you weren’t a real estate mogul - they’re going to benefit substantially from the new tax law!

But, you could make money playing guitar the way I wish I could: actually practice, instead of trawling the classifieds and buying new gear. You don’t actually get a paycheck, but you don’t spend anything either. So it’s kind of the same thing.
