I've recently visited a friend of mine and came up with the idea of doing a photoshoot for his amazing Ibanez PGM collection. He's a crazy collector and a die-hard Paul Gilbert fan, he also plays in a Mr. Big cover band (which played with Paul himself a couple times)!

Anyway, here's the result, I've chopped some backgrounds to blend them better with the guitars. You can download all the Hi-Res pics at this link Download ibanez collection.zip from Sendspace.com - send big files the easy way

    Let's start with a sneak peek of what's coming....

Here we have a beautiful PGM200 from '91, exclusively made for Japan market. The neck is classic Ibanez 90s style, very shreddy, one of my favs. It has three PAF Pros.

Here's my favourite one: PGM90th, made to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Hoshino Gakki. What an absolute beast, lightweight but huge sounding! Mahogany body, flame maple top, and an exceptional ebony fretboard. Ebony is pretty rare at Ibanez, but when it's done, it's spectacular, the grain is SO tight. Abalone inlays at 12th fret, abalone binding, two tone zones and a jem single. The quality is up to par with J-Customs here, no joke. Limited to 300 pieces worldwide.

And there we have her sister, the PGM10th, made to celebrate 10 years of the PGM model. This is rare as well, 300 copies in the world. Stunning inlays, and look at the 25th fret ;) Two tone zones and a jem single.

Time for something different! Here's a VERY rare guitar, a PGM700, made as a tribute to Beatles (Paul's a huge fan of them). Made only in '96 at the Japanese custom shop, 77 pieces worldwide, this is number 27! It has Super Distortions. Made only for the Japan market.

And this guitar is a tribute to another band, Kiss! I'm talking about the PGM600, or "Iceman" for friends:) Super Distortions, exclusive for Japan market.

Time for another beautiful one, the ash-bodied PGM800. This particular one is very rare since it's one of the three prototypes used by Paul at Musikmesse '96, the most common ones have two ash woods glued, this has just one. Two tone zones!

Here's a very special one: a PGM301 with drawing by Mr Paul Gilbert himself!

This is the PGM900, with Talman body shape, beautiful mahogany body, satin gold hardware, two Dimarzio Super 58s, very vintage sounding.

Return to shred-time with this PGM100, the first model released for Big Paul.
Lo-Pro bridge, two PAF Pros, FS-1 in the middle.

These sisters are my least favourite, the PGM400 and PGM500. They differ from bridge, headstock direction, and other minor stuff. Both mount Tone Zone and Humbucker From Hell.

Time for the last PGM, an acoustic! This is the PGM1000 and looks fantastic.

.....but it's not finished yet! Now something for JEM/Vai fans, I didn't forget about you ;)

Look at this marvellous JEM 7V with ebony fretboard, scalopped last frets, and Roland midi-pickup. No words...

That's it guys, hope you enjoyed this enormous post and liked the photos ;):hbang:

PS: all PGMs are autographed in the back, you can see the autographs if you download the hi-res pics. Only the Fireman and PGM 401 are missing from this collection if I'm not mistaken, but he'll probably find them soon!

It was definitely my favourite, like I said the quality is on par with J Custom. It was also the best sounding of all, such an amazing instrument.

Love the Jem and Acoustic, otherwise a few too many painted on F holes for me. (which while may not look bad when they are black the others get rather ridiculous) I find the idea kind of silly, but then again it was made for Paul Gilbert so not surprising.

This wouldn't happen to belong to Jack Secret would it? He does own (at least) the majority of these guitars, and is a big Gilbert collecter.

I love the PGM 800's and 100's, and the 401 that cane out recently actually.

What's the PGM that's kinda brick red with black F Holes? Did that ever make production?
