I actually changed the pups in one of ibbys! :hbang: The old man did something right!

Seriously, I'm NOT a DIY guy with electronics. I carefully removed the old stuff, carefully did all the little steps. I even didn't quite do it right the first time and easily fixed it.....I'm stoked! The wiring schematic was from here (thanks SS.org!) and it's just what I wanted.

Many thanks to those who answered my other threads, w/o that.....I couldn't have done it.

hell, I'm looking forward to the next!

I get to indulge in this tonight, my first wiring project. Remind me again why I put three humbuckers, a 5-way 4-poole super switch, and a push-pull tone in there again?

Glad to hear it worked out :D

Nice to hear dude! I think the most confusing part of the wiring is the switch. Those 5-way switches are bitches.

So I put in a 3-way switch and called it a day. :)

lol! I put the 3 way switch in this. I wanted H/dual split/H.

Not sure about this pafjoe in the neck though:scratch: The mojoe in the bridge is a hit w/o doubt and the dual split is nice. Really thought with the specs the pafjoe would be a tad brighter. I wouldn't say it's muddy........oh well, time to grab a SB's and test more! :shred:

I wish I knew why the computer interference is a bit too noticeable though. It's not ground thing BTW, it's nothing bad, it's just that I have to have it a little further away than my other ibbys.

I'll probably start another thread about shielding but I wonder if the fact that the dimarzio 3way is exposed and all the others with stock 5 way are encased? Other than that, the wiring wasn't changed other than the pups. My other ibbys are super quiet.

It's possible. I mean, it sounds like a shielding issue, that's for sure. Do you have a pic of the cavity and facing so I can take a peek at the details?

Visit here for more information on shielding.

I apply shielding tape to all my cavities. Always use protection.

    :noplease:

It's funny you've had the opposite response to me with the Mo Joe / PAF Joe combination. I really liked them both, but more so the neck pickup. Maybe try raising it on the treble side and lowering the bass side, for better treble response on your high strings?

Congrats on a job well done! :D

Aside from that chunk missing near the switch, it seems fine. Kind of perplexing really. Does it come through more powerfully when you hold the guitar at different angles to the computer?

It`s not a shielding issue.More to do with the birds nest and grounding.

You must be referring to the remedial wiring job I did.

The blue tape is there because I wanted a way to keep track of the two pups rather than constantly double checking. I just never took it off.

what he means by birds nest is the way the wires are all over the place. its not a huge deal, you can always throw some zip ties in there to keep it a bit neater if you want.

it could be that some wires are touching somewhere (maybe a bare ground wire) and that could be causing it.
