    Hi SSO

I did a lesson on a Jeff Loomis lick, check it out:

The idea of the lesson being learning the original lick and then generalize it to be able to play it in whatever scale, so that you can use it yourself.

This is my first time trying to do a video lesson, and tbh it is pretty ackward talking to a camera and trying to learn the camera to play guitar :D, but I think it went ok, helped by a lot of editing.

So please give me some feedback about what sucks in this video, so I can improve for my next attempt, which will be some of the sweeppicking parts of the same song (Jato Unit).

    Hi there.
First of all i have to admit that your playing is killer.
I have a question ,I have recently started playing guitar i have noticed that the picking hand needs to mute the lower (Like B and low E etc) strings while playing the higher strings( in you case you are playing on high B string). How come your picking hand is not resting on the lower strings to mute them ,I havent heard any unwanted noise from your lower strings ,Does this have something to do with your noise gate ??or the patch??Or the amp??How are you controlling noise??

    Hi!

    Thanks a lot :)

I actually go into this at about 08:28 in the video. I am very much using my picking hand to mute the lower strings while I play, very much like you describe, so that is the secret sauce!
I also have a noise gate going, but that works on the full spectrum and just mutes when I am not playing, so it doesn't help with the lower strings while playing at all.

I hope that clarifies it, else just ask :)
