Mine rocked- went down to NYC to party with a friend of mine and a few of her friends. We ended up at an apartment about 5 blocks from Times Square, and were actually able to watch the ball drop (abiet in reflection off the side of another building) from the balcony of another friend's place in the building.

the downside of being that close was we had to get through the security checkpoints they set up around Times Square, which took a LOT of begging and pleading with the cops to let us through. Finally, one of them bought our story that we were just going half a block up the street to a friend's apartment (which had the added benefit of being true ;)) and we got through- strangeloy, they didn't even search my backpack (i caught a train out of South station in Boston right after work).

Good party, we didn't know a soul there aside from Renee, but after a few martinis and whiskey's on the rocks, it was sorta a non point.

highlight of the night- I hooked up with an honest-to-god lesbian (not bisexual but with a preference for girls, but totally lesbian- I think I was her second guy she'd been with in any sense of the word). We started talking becase, well, she WAS pretty cute (she was companing that girls always assumed she was straight, if that tells you anything- totally not the "type"), and we both had a thing for the same girl at the party, and, well, one thing led to another... Renee's take (renee being my friend I went down to see) was that it was New Year's, she wanted to make out with someone, and no other girl at the party swung that way, so she figured, "well, I might as well find a nice guy," making that the first time that one ever paid off for me.

    It was awesome. :)

    PICS WE NEED PICS :scream:

Seriously tho sounds like you had a great time.

My day was ok I ended up working 1/2 day (holiday? whats a holiday? get that website done ya bastige!)

Spent the evening with a couple of my friends who came in from out of town. We all went to my friends Farmhouse and spent the night Drinking some Wine he made and eating entirely too much pork and Kraut

Had a mini acoustic jam (3 of us playing) but we had a lot of catching up to do so it was more aBS than play

    :agreed:

yeah, but you see, I was there without my 7-string... ;)

Actually, the girl played guitar a bit, so I was messing around on her acoustic when some other kid who played stuck his head in the door. He knew a few open chords, but that was it, so I started showing him some stuff. As I was showing him an open-position pentatonic (pointing to notes on the fretboard while he played) the girl that we (the first girl and I) both wanted walked in. As it turned out, she played a tiny bit herself. The first guy tried to impress her, then let her play a bit- horrible, but if you look like that I'm not complaining. She handed the guitar to me then started to walk out of the room. I started playing, and she stopped, turned around, and was like "you're good," absolutely shocked.

didn't get me anywhere, though... :-/

Vegetta, what fun are pics if a "friend" of hers wasn't involved? ;)

Sounds like you had fun, Drew :)

As for me, I avoided amateur night all together and we just spent a quiet evening at home. Besides, all the new-years celebrations in phoenix suck. They had Smashmouth playing at the Tempe block party (the big 50,000 person festival every new years in Phoenix), and they suck, so we didn't go. They always have some 5 or 10 years-passed one-hit wonder playing that crappy "party" :D

Used to be a pretty good band though, before they went uber-corporate- check out "Fush Yu Mang" sometime. It's an honestly good ska album. "Flo" is just a great tune... "My friends keep telling me, I bear a striking resemblance to someone you used to know. But baby it's me, so why the hell do you keep on calling me Flo?" "Florence, if you hear this will you come and take your girlfriend back. She's been calling out your name every time we're in the sack. She's been a mess since you've been apart, so Flo if you have half a heart... Florence, can you hear me? Can you hear me, Flo?"

    Great tune.:)

Mine was fun, partied it up with a few close friends in central NY, sadly, no girls there worth hooking up with, so I've now been single for another New Years, but oh well, life goes on! :)

I think the highlight of the night was me playing the intro to Enter Sandman on my brother's travel sized nylon stringed acoustic, and my friend who rents the apartment started moshing around the living room. Talk about hilarious! I wanted to rip out some heavier stuff, but its hard to tremolo pick on nylon strings, plus the neck was about 2/3rd's the size of a normal electric, so chord positioning was hard. Fun nonetheless, and a Happy New Year to everyone here!
