I want to replace the hard drive in my laptop with and SSD. I'm a bit confused on what size/type to order. Is it just best to take it out and measure it or is there more to it than that?

    Thanks!

If you’re saying your current drive is HDD, then it’s 2.5 inches.

OK Thanks. How do I know which is the right interface? There are several options when buying.

If your laptop was made in the last 10 years or so, It’s probably SATA.

Do you still have the paperwork that came with your machine? If not, the manufacturer's website probably has documentation you can reference. You may need to do a Google search of the manufacturer site (add "site:" and the url to the search string) to find it:

    Code:
    (model number) site:(manufacturer URL)
Previous posters are correct that there's a 99.999999% chance that the drive bay is for 2.5 inch drives using SATA3 connection, but it's better to be certain than not.
