I'm looking for a guitar that may not even exist, but maybe one of you can point me in the right direction.

The guitar I'm looking for would be an (used) Ibanez RG with locking tremolo, two humbuckers, reversed headstock, unique inlays, and unique top. Anything like that exist out there? Also sub $1000

    Also open to other brands.

Closest is JBM20, but it has a plain flat black finish.

I like this guitar but finding them for under $1000 (preferably much under) is not easy

Would a Paul Gilbert model be fine for you?

How about this new GC exclusive? http://www.guitarcenter.com/Ibanez/...0320X1568184X1ceedc4e7029f217c7e32426bdc2bb99

It sounds like you're looking for aesthetics over playability, but that budget still allows for badass used Prestige shredders that can be modified to suit your tastes down the line, rather than hot-rodding a mediocre but cool looking guitar. Unfortunately with Ibanez, the most flashy looking finishes come on the mid-range line, or higher tier Prestige. Their best guitars for the money tends to be the plain, but excellent workhorse Prestige stuff, which is what I'd recommend...

    I agree.

Buy something and mod it. I have a 652 and it's a workhorse. Can't really find a better bang for your buck new Japanese built guitar IMO

Lots of RGRs with locking trems and sharkfins but very few that have cool finishes or tops

I meant to put in my original post, I am mainly looking for Japanese Ibanez.

Something like the Ibanez RG Prestige RG652AHM is close but too much money new

Best advice is to go for a 9 string with EMGs, keep it only in Drop E with 12's on it. Then you will become a djent god.

Yeah, that's where your criteria makes it difficult. There just isn't a MIJ RG with everything you want for less than $1000, otherwise it'd be the guitar you'd see EVERYONE here owning. haha

You can find a sub $1000 MIJ RG, no problem. It might be a boring model, but it's a killer base for modification.
You can find a sub $1000 RG with a reversed headstock, interesting top and interesting inlays, but it won't be MIJ.
You can find a Prestige RG with all the criteria you wanted, but it definitely won't be less than $1000. Prestige RGRs just aren't very common anymore to begin with.

Maybe just keep saving and up your budget?? You can meet more of your criteria that way. Otherwise, you're gonna have to make a compromise in either looks, quality, or price.

Yeah I think that is the realization that I am slowly coming to, I will simply have to save more money or settle for a "basic" RG.

I currently own 7 guitars, none of which were exactly what I wanted because of budget. I think now is the time to keep saving and get exactly what I want.
