How the heck is Rutan playing this riff? Looks like some type of palm-muted, string-skipping thingy. I'm watching it, but not understanding it!

I was hearing triplets as well, but I wasn't sure if I was ghost hearing because of the drums. That Dude has tight control over his right hand.

I always find it hard to make sense of the guitar on HE records because he eq's the damn drums way too loud.

Rutan never met a drum mix that didn't need more drums.

    DAT ironbird is sick AF.

That riff is pretty sick and sounds like triplets.

Locust swarm is an accurate way to describe how the riff sounds. Watch that right hand go, Probably been at it since his early teen years :shred:

Doesn't exactly help that there's a logo hiding his right hand most of the time.

Sort of sounds like the bridge riff from Damage Inc where you catch the higher string a second time on your way back, only with a string skip.

Mute the string you're skipping over with a left hand finger so it doesn't matter if you hit it.

I think they did some string skip/palm muting/ triplet thrashing in Blackened too, the precursor to Damage Inc. On justice for all. Actually I don't think there was string skip but that really hard triplet thrash main riff thing.

Sick riff. Not sure how to play it, but I can still enjoy it.
