Don't know if this goes against the rules, but I'm hiring someone who is able to transcribe guitar solos by ear and put them on a gp5/gpx file.

The solos are from my own band record, I don't have time to track them down and I need a bunch of them to finish the tab book.

There are 7 solos to tab, most of them are the usual 8 bars solos, not super high complex level. Further details via PM. Willing to pay 20/30$ upon completion through paypal.
Let me know if you're interested and shoot me a message.

Wait.... If it's for a tab book, for your own band, the only people who should do it should be you guys. It's your band after all, why not get some work ethic in it?

 The OP has a fully recorded effort that has apparently generated enough fandom to warrant a tab book but you're questioning his work ethic.

Maybe he's lazy like that Zappa guy who hired that Vai guy to transcribe some of his work.

OP, in America we NEVER use cash to contract out small tasks that we could do by ourselves.... Must be an Italian thing....

I can most definitely do it. I have transcribed the entire Sikth discography as well as the first Animals as Leaders album by ear. I could get these done for ya. Email me: sinaclebassist@yahoo.com

I'm asking someone to do this because I'm not playing guitar anymore - due to personal issues - and I don't have enough time to transcribe by ear (because I can't get a guitar I don't have and figure out the fretting).

Honestly, I've seen tons of requests like these and no money was offered. I'd be willing to offer some cash because it's valuable-thus paid- work. If that offends you, just do it for free. :)

And it's the first time I've been questioned about the reasons I'm willing to pay for someone to do a simple work, judging without even knowing the story behind. But yeah, must be an American thing....

    $30 is an insult.

Are you going to hire someone else to play them and make sure the tabbing is OK? :)

    I kid, but I'm not.

    Do your own homework.

I think I would want to hear what is being transcribed before committing. Layered/difficult songs are going to take substantially more time than a Ramones record.

Mind your own business and get the .... out of this thread if your contribution is that irrelevant.

It was just a starting offer, feel free to ask more if your experience demands more than that :)

Guys, this board is so funny :D Full of lowlife bedroom players demanding to be respected being keyboard warriors :)

I don't think there's anything wrong with hiring transcribers, sometimes there's just too much .... going on.

But people get paid well over a grand for whole album transcriptions, and the amount you're offering for the solos is the equivalent of working an hour at a lemonade stand.

If the resumée of the candidate is worth enough, I'm willing to pay 10x that amount for a pro-grade work.
But it's clearly not the case

What's not the case? That professional-level transcribers might frequent this forum? Not only are there plenty of pro musicians here, but also people with music degrees and the theoretical knowledge necessary to make a professional transcription.

People are ripping apart your ballpark because it's honestly hilariously low. The guy who made the comment about working at the lemonade stand isn't far off the mark...$30 is a pittance.

Ballpark it like this: you want relatively professional work done, or at least you want the work done right, which is probably going to require the talents of someone skilled. Those people frequently charge $30-$50 PER HOUR for their time, whether it's giving guitar lessons, playing session gigs, etc. So you've asked them to do 7 songs, and even a pro is going to take probably 2 hours per song. They have to not only figure out the music and configure it into logical fingerings, but then also input it into Guitar Pro (as you've asked) and that takes time too. I wouldn't say 2 hours per solo is unrealistic to assume. So that's $420-700 that you should be expecting to pay, as a minimum.

$30 is the amount you give a 12 year old kid for mowing your lawn, not the price you pay for someone to transcribe ALL the solos off your album.

Try reading the actual post before you go on a rant. He said he wants the solos from 7 songs done. That's 8 bars times 7 songs = 56 bars of music. If that's too much for you to do for $30, don't do it. But you better get your panties equally bunched next time someone on here asks if anyone can transcribe a whole song for free. Because it happens all the time. Don't speak for anyone else about whether the $30 is worth it or not, and whether they can negotiate it or not. He's already had one offer to do it, and my guess is that will be done in less than an hour. The guy who did the Sikth stuff is amazing. Really good transcriptionists could do a simple 8 bar solo in a few minutes.

Secondly, for all of you criticizing the guy for not wanting to transcribe his own music, do you seriously expect every musician to do everything themselves? Touring bands don't do their own transcriptions. And do you expect every guitar player to mix down and master their own albums? Sheesh. You guys need to try the decaf. For me personally, I'd hire someone because I have such limited time with work and family I'd much prefer to practice than transcribe. Same goes with recording.
