Guitar Pro 4 for mac? Or maybe an alternative that will play .GP4 files?

    Hi all

I've used Guitar Pro 4 for many years now when doing lessons, and also for composing. I should move onto a new version, but I'm so used to it and quick on it, and just haven't got round to upgrading...

Anyhow, my young nephew wants to learn guitar but only has an iPad....

    1. Would I be right in saying that my GP4 installation (for Windows) will not work on his iPad? Sorry if that's a dumb question; I know next to nothing about Apple stuff.

    2. If not, was there a GP4 released for mac/iPad? And would there be a freeware option available now that the software is so old?

    3. Failing that is there an alternative freeware option of software that is similar to GP4 (the more similar the better).

    4. Which ever road I go down, will my .GP4 files work on his iPad?

Any help would be most appreciated.

    Many thanks

    Max

TuxGuitar. Musescore also opens GP files, but TuxGuitar's GUI is closer to GP.

iPad, I don't know. You can always export to PDF so you at least have the tab.
