I'm surprised Toho hasn't sued them to make them change their name, since they are pretty lawsuit-happy! I guess if it hasn't happened to the much better-known Gojira they might be OK.

Gigan is the Japanese word for prosthetic eye. Like, as in, I'm pretty sure that this kaiju character is named Prosthetic Eye because he shoots a big laserbeam out of his eye. So for that reason maybe there could not be a lawsuit. Or who knows maybe it's just a coincidence. At least, "gan" is a way to read the kanji meaning eye and maybe the "gi" part means something other than prosthesis in this case, but it's written in katakana so there's no way to guess the meaning. But otherwise "gigan" is a commonly used word in reference to a false eye.

A friend sent me a link but they've been going for a while. I've seen comparisons to Ulcerate and other bands with dense material so if you look around that sphere, you'll find them.

Haha, I had NO idea about any of that. That's awesome. "Commonly used word in reference to a false eye" is not a phrase I have ever read before.

Anyway, I'll have to check these guys out.
