    Hey, Guys

This a friend of mine. Kelly Cox, played in a band called A Thousand Shields (progressive metal).
    https://www.facebook.com/AThousandShields

He placed first in the first rounds of the drum-off at GC.

He posted a solo of his video, I wanted to see what some of you thought.

I thought he did pretty awesome, nice groove and technique.

    1:16 is sick!

Sorry about the thread title BTW.

solid beats, fills, and rhythms but honestly wasnt much of a solo
you can tell there's a lot of matt helpern influence/style in there

Thanks guys :), yeah it's not an over the top dramatic solo.

I'm not sure if he listens to Periphey a lot or not. It's possible but I'm not totally sure, but the solo does definitely has some Helpern similarities.

I definitely like the open handed playing though, always a fan of that.

    ahh n00bery!

when you dont cross hands while playing.
for example, he's right handed and playing the high hats with his left hand, where as most right handed people would play their hats with their right

    simply put: ambidexterity

He was in a pretty cool progressive band called A Thousand Shields.

(This a video of them playing with some of my good friends in music too, 4 guitarist on stage for a jam).

He does do some cover too. Pretty cool stuff.
