I haven't been on the forum in years, but today I found a guitar that I've always wanted. I picked this S1220 up for $400 with the prestige case. The frets are in great shape, but they need to be dressed, so it's going in for a plek and setup pretty soon.

Before that, I plan on refinishing it with tung oil. The current finish is pretty chipped up, and the wood looks great. When I put it back together, I'm ditching the killswitch and installing a Tone-Zone/Joe pickup comb. Maybe some rosewood pickup rings & knobs?

    Question though:
I plan on removing the neck to do the refinish, and I'm wondering how long I can leave the neck untensioned while I refinish the body. It's the older unreinforced neck, so I'm being extra cautious.
    Thanks!

Nice looking axe. The binding looks like it has taken on a slightly yellow hue from the pics, I think it looks great. Would love to see pics after you get the re-finish done.

Thanks guys! I'll be posting a couple shots throughout the refinishing process. All of the small parts have been ordered, and I'm about to start taking it apart soon.

I don't know that I would even bother to refinish - it looks awesome as it!
