So I got a tip from another ebayer that Fire Guitars on Reverb.com is scalping eBay gear. He was kind enough to cross check a few pics with eBay auctions when he found his own gear scalped on Fire Guitars, and get in touch. Low and behold, there's my Explorer: https://reverb.com/item/3515424-gibson-explorer I wonder how he's going to get over £1000 for it. Maybe I should buy it from his site then refuse to sell it via eBay. Or raise the price to £1100 and see what he does. Not cool man.
So are they just making a copy of a running auction as if its their own gear? Sounds like it wouldn't last very long till they got caught? Can you report it to reverb?
Don't report it. Raise the price on your auction to 5000. Then immediately purchase the guitar on his. Bam. Profit. (well, I'd check refund policies and such first, obviously) Yeah... no, it's probably a straight out scam and they just try to take the money and never send anything out. Report it.
