Kind of sick with of my 5150. Just bored of the tone and not really what im looking for.

This is the exact tone im looking for:
The Acacia Strain - Victims of the Cave (New Album Out October 9th) - YouTube

I know DL uses a DAR FBR 100, and thats my dream amp. I have the money for it too, but I know I'll never get it since it seems they are too fucking incompitant to use language to communicate.

    I currently am running:
    Ibanez RG7321 w/Emg 707 18volt mod => Bad Monkey => NS-2 then a decimator in the loop.

Running two cabs: Orange ppc4x12 and Emperor 4x12 with weber speakers.

I fucking hate both cabs and Im picking up two mesa straight/slant baffled cabs this weekend. Im also going to pick up a Maxon od808.

So, Whats your favorite amp? Have any tips on how I can get my dream tone without the purchase of a dar? Ever got a sound close to this? Can I mod my 5150 to make it sound like this?

    Thanks y'all:fawk:

you should look at FJA mods. Here is a link to the page you would want to look at:5150
For a price of $675, you can get his best mods which make it that much better of an amp.

You should check out a used VHT Pittbull, they pack really tight low end. Btw, if you're looking for that tone, i'm pretty sure that a boosted mesa rev g is what you're looking for.

check out a Pittbull , cl 100 is ok, 2 gain channels ,very good sounding.
od808 has very high mid response , hard to cut out , high compress, maybe a good thing for metal

You mod an amp you already love..not one you don't like or are tire of.

FWIW My favorite amp is the JSX..ironically I sent it to FJA mods and no other amp sounds as good to me

Another one for VHT/Fryette. My experience is mainly with the Sig:X. Super tight and responsive and very versatile, so fun to play. Don't really need a boost for it. Would recommend getting a matching cab, though, for any Fryette.

If you claim to have the cash to swing for a DAR, the first amplifier that came to mind based on the tone was a Diezel VH4S :hbang:

Seriously, check it out and then compare it to the video.

Dude from Ohio has reborn T-rec for sale in the site marketplace, which is the amp I'd recommend.
It has major versatility, especially with a boost.

As for the boost, you might look into maxon9+ instead.
Since you already have the 707's compression, I think you'd find the increased clarity and tightness of the 9+ more compatible, and the versatility is a huge advantage IMO (I have two of each BTW(808,9+), and wouldn't part with any of them because I find the 808s a bit richer for lead tracking).

First of all, a big part of the new Acaia tone is the guitar. It's a 30.2" scale 8. I have one and it is a big part of that tone. He did use a Dar on the new album but he's also a well known Mesa rec user.

If you have the coin for a Dar you should be looking at a Diezel Herbert. 30" 8>Diezel Hebert>Diezel FL GK100 4x12= fucking nasty!

Gonna sneak in Fortin into the conversation here. Ian thornley gets a killer tone, as does Ola englund. Sounds like you'd have the money to get something designed close to what you have in mind. And it's made up the road from my city :D

I checked out a couple of videos of the Pitbull, and god damn that thing fucking slays. Although I have never played one, every example of Diezel amps I have ever heard is the exact opposite of what I want. Don't get me wrong, it sounds awesome just not what im looking for.

I wouldn't base your decision on videos and clips. You're bound to be disappointed if you do.
