F# F A# D# G C F string gauge?

    Hi, I have an 28” 8 string...
    I know the tuning in the title is for a 7... so my questions are,
    What follows after the high F?
    And also what suitable gauge for this tuning??
    Currently have a standard 74-8 I believe, stock agile strings

    Any help greatly appreciated :)

    Normally a high A follows the F but there's no chance you're going to get a durable high A at 28".

    Actually I fucked up, its a high Bb which is impossible at 28".

    I'd suggest getting a D'Addario 9-54 set + single 80 or NYXL 9-80 set for F-C-F-A♯-D♯-G♯-C-F. I don't think a high A♯ (the fifth after the high F) is possible even on a short Gibson scale.

    What the hell tuning is that?! That seems batty, but clearly I’m the only one out of the loop here.

    Right? The weirdest thing is, someone else I know mentioned it on Facebook today but with just one string altered. Bizarre

    Check out the gauge calculator on my website - it will let you determine gauges based on other strings you enjoy, for example what to use for the F if you like an 80 F# (the answer would be 85) and so on.

    It’s from the new Silent Planet album, they use a variety with the low string at G, G# or F# and the other 6 are kept the same!

    It is weird, but sounds good

    .080 (or .074) .040 .030 (or .028) .020 wound .013 .010 .007 I'd say .070 or even .068 could work for f# as long as you dont plan on tuning lower.

    The dude said on reddit which ones but I can’t remember... and the other songs he replaces the F# with G#
