    Hi all

I was wondering if the new version of the 6L6 50 Watt head utilized linear pots for the volume controls? I have the original one and the volume controls were very touch sensitive. I was wondering if this was corrected in this version? I tried out the new EL34 version the other day and it seemed to have linear pots for these controls.

    Thanks
    Jeff

The one I tried behaved exactly like my older one. Having said that my older one seems very linear anyway. Is yours made in China or Mexico? I know the Chinese ones had some quality issues(more than evh cared to admit)

Not sure if they are linear pots, but the volumes are still pretty touch sensitive IME (I have the new 5153 50 Watt). There have been many a time where I've accidentally moved the volume knobs and it got really loud really fast.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I will just upgrade my original AMP with the concentric volume and gain knob kit.

I had recently purchased the orig 50 watter and loved it but it was more of a 2.5ch amp which was a shame cuz ch1 and 2 are awesome and deserve dedicated vols.
Not long after purchase i found put that Fender was gonna offer the dual pot upgrade kit but no price.
I paid $667 for the orig 50w new, and had to decide between keeping it and upgrading later or returning and buying the new 50 watter outright for 999.

It was risky but i ended up negotiating the new 50 watter for $800 and returned the v1 head.

Glad i did with those upgrade kit prices..

I am in the same situation and trying to decide what to do. Were there any other differences between the two versions besides the concentric volume and gain pots? Sound differences at all?

    Thanks
    Jeff

I did not notice any sound differences between the old and new 50 watters.
They both performed pretty awesome in the bedroom.
