Alright fellas, as you know, Tom Drinkwater is one of the few luthiers I trust any more. And, he's a good guy all around. I've got yet another 8 string he's building for me, and here is the first photo of the body being glued up. That's a buckeye burl top. If you ever have the chance to get a guitar from him, do it - he's trustworthy, and builds very, very nice instruments. Excellent attention to detail, and beautiful. I'm super finicky about action, nut height, etc., and Tom's stuff is perfect right out of the gates.

What sort of thing are you going for this time? Falcon type affair or so?

Yeah, he was clearing his back stock, and getting stuff all caught up. At the moment, he’s mostly doing custom cabinetry with another guy, but I think he’ll open it back up to other things. I still want to get a SS8 with the 3 single coils, and a custom super long scale 10.

It’s actually the OXC model from a few years ago.
And, this is headless, and the bridge is straight, so it will be straight fret.

Progress shots! Seems mixtape.moe is down, so I'm trying another hosting service. Hopefully this works...

Really stoked to see that with oil/lacquer/whatever on it. I'm thinking it'll look like a galaxy.

Jokes aside, how thick is the body going to be anyway?

It is a thick one indeed! That will allow for a good forearm contour/carve without getting into the black limba. The body could be anywhere from the current 1.75” to around 1.375” or so. That will be up to Hollowway of course.

I'm way behind the times, but why is he not going by OAF anymore?

And here I was thinking I was over buckeye burl...

Fuck me that's gorgeous. And I know Tom builds a mean monstrous guitar.

So I'm just going to go ahead and congratulate you on a beautiful looking and fantastic playing guitar!
