I accidentally knocked over a framed mirror that leaned against the wall, so it fell and knocked over my 1527 onto my desk....this resulted a dent in the back of the neck and a tiny dent on the back of the headtock...AAARRGGHHH:wallbash:
I am so anal with this, those little dents bother me
Eventhough I am very, very careful with my guitars, this kinda stuff still happens, it seems inevitable.....

Anybody else that gets bothered when they get a dent in their guitar?

These days, I only get bothered when it's a really minty guitar or the dent is on the neck. I have all kinds of dents and nicks all over most of my guitars, and the only ones that bother me at all are a tiny dent on the neck of my Jackson and a tiny chip on the edge of the fretboard on my Squier. My Ibanezes are beaten to shit, but the necks are nearly pristine, so I don't really mind.

    Yes, makes sense.
The dent I just ogt is on the back of the neck, fortunately, though, on the lower side so it won't get in the way of my thumb or anything. But it still bothers me:wallbash:

I used to have a Jackson RR3 black & crome .my friend was flipping arround a butterfly knife and it sliped out of his hands and the heavy end of the handle chipped off about a 1/2 inch circle of paint .:wallbash::scream::realmad::nono::noplease:

It doesn't bother me much, apart from if the chip/nick/dent is in the neck back. That always anoys the fuck out of me. :noplease:

The back of the neck is a pet peeve of mine...it's a deal breaker for me. I won't buy/keep a guitar if the neck isn't smooth. It just irks me to no end. Body dings don't bother me as much.

Its annoying when it first happens but later on I don't give a shit. As long as its not on the neck who cares. I just dropped my K-7 the other day it only had one chip in it when I got it now it has five! I was pretty erkked when it happened but I just looked at it now and I 'm fine with it. The only way they stay perfect is if you don't touch them.

As long as the neck is OK, I'm OK... unless I'm planning on selling it later. Of course, I always cry a little over the first nick or two... but after a few of them happen, the rest just add character.

I always touch mine up with salon quality black nail polish... it'll hold for years. If it's another color than black I'll get some matching car touch up paint, works like a charm. As far as fretboards and maybe necks, I've heard you could steam it out somehow? I don't know much about that though, maybe someone else does here.

I was driving home a form a gig two nights ago and my drummer packed my bass right behind his stack if toms...

I don't have a case for my bass so i leave it in the backseat, i guess he forgot.

Drums from three feet above knocked some biggass gouges into the face of my bass...

    I haven't told him yet...

What I hate the most if it's on the body's frront or back of the neck. I'll deal with it, but it just seems kinda embarrassing if it's on the body's front face. Having to deal with a nick on the back of the neck is a constant reminder every time you slide your thumb across it.

No shit man!:lol: It didn't fall that far or hit that hard but man the fucking clear and paint just lept off the body. If it were an old fender strat there probably wouldn't have been a mark!

:agreed: It makes you wonder how the fuck the guitar can resonate properly with all of that finish around it.

Honestly, I think some battle scars can give a guitar more mojo.

I've only really dented 2 of my guitars in my whole time of playing. I dropped a kramer bass I used to own from a ~1 foot fall on carpet somewhere around 2 years ago and somehow it chipped the paint on the lower horn? I have no idea, it just popped off. and then my old RG7620 I dented somehow accidentally from hitting it on prolly a table. Besides that I haven't really dented my guitars, I'm REALLY careful with them. I'm also careful about who I let touch my guitars, as this guy I jammed with a while ago put a tiny 2mm dent on the corner of my schecter when he was screwing around on it and nailed it on the tip of his bass headstock, and even though it's literally unnoticeable unless you're like 5 inches away from it, it still bugs me to hell. However I should add, dents don't prevent me from buying a guitar, I just don't like being there when they happen

So, if you got a dent in the neck of a guitar, you would sell it and buy a new one?
